    • RE: All About Home Addresses

then they just have to be like me... we bought a place and failed to ballot in SCGS... my girl is studying at CHIJ Katong now. everyday we travel from Bukit Timah to Marine Parade to and fro... suffer for a few years then hopefully can sell the place after the ABSD expires!

      lee_yl:
      I am thinking,

What if those parents signed a 30 month lease but failed to ballot in? :yikes:

What if due to this new ruiling, parents buy a property out of desperation because since they have to rent 30 months, they might as well just buy a unit, and later fail to ballot in? :yikes: :yikes:

    • RE: All About Home Addresses

TELL ME ABOUT IT! We genuinely bought a place opp SCGS and got balloted out last year! Now my girl goes to CHIJ Katong... how far is it you know? The traveling daily... I was super devastated last year when we did not get in SCGS... Cried for days! Now we are hoping to sell the place after the ABSD is up... but property market is so bad... SIGHHH...

Everyday when I take the SBS bus to fetch my girl and pass by the school... imagine the pain... and by the time my girl reaches home... usually have her lunch almost 3pm. Only good thing is there is a straight bus to and fro to school...

WHY DIDN'T MOE SET THIS RULE LAST YEAR???

      josiren13:
And how about those who bought new homes for this purpose and yet they are deprived of the possible phase 2B ?
We are talking about parents who fork out $$ to buy homes near these schools.. and not even rental. How fair is that!

    • RE: St Andrew's Junior

but her question is if St Margaret Primary school and St Andrews Primary school are affiliated...

      phtthp:
      absolutwild:

SMPS is not affiliated to SAJS... i do not think so...

After GCE \"O\" level results are out -
If pupils from St Margaret Secondary apply to St Andrew Junior College (SAJC) to study \"A\" level, the girls are given 2 bonus points

      Example

Say, a Student from St Margaret Secondary school, scored 8 points for her GCE \"O\" level.
If she apply to SAJC, for \"A\" level :
her new score newly re-computed, now become 8 - 2 = 6 (ie. because of the 2 bonus points)

Admission into Junior Colleges, for JAE students, is highly competitive.
The lower your score, the Better it is.

So, if another student from say, Tanjong Katong Girls Secondary (TKGS) with 8 points, also apply to SAJC : who will be admitted into SAJC, first ?

      Answer :
St Margaret girl, because her score is 6, compared to TKGS girl (8 points)

Thus, the answer to the question is Yes, St Margaret Secondary, is indeed affliated to St Andrew Junior College.
But St Margaret Sec Not affliated to St Andrew Boys Secondary school, because girls Sec school not affliated to Boys Sec school.
But they are affliated to the Junior College, yes

Besides St Margaret Secondary, are there other Secondary schools, also affliated to SAJC, for \"A\" level ?

      Yes, there are !
Total 7 Secondary schools are affliated to SAJC, include (2 bonus points) :-

      - Anglican High school

      - Presbyterian High school

      - Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary school

      - Christ church Secondary school

      - St Hilda Secondary School

      - St Margaret girls Secondary school

      - St Andrew Boys Secondary school

What does this tell us ?
It tell us that is important to choose the right Secondary school carefully, because some Secondary schools have bonus points as they are affliated to a Junior College (for \"A\" level), while other Secondary schools do not have this privilege.

    • RE: Man gets two weeks' jail for lying about address for daughte

ME! you talking about me there? we genuinely bought a place there and got balloted out... (not same year though) now my daughter goes to the school at the east side of Singapore. SIGHHH...

      Happyparent222:
if talking about fairness, is it fair for this girl to take away the chance of another child whom is supposed to be given the right to get into the school and whom is genuinely staying within 1km-2km?

If you are among the disappointed parents who cannot get into this school the same year this girl got in ? will you still think that it's fair for the girl to stay on?

    • RE: Man gets two weeks' jail for lying about address for daughte

People like me will be UPSET! Who really bought a place opposite the school and got balloted out! Staying at Bukit Timah now but goes to school at the east! And my girl comes back for lunch at 2:30pm sometimes 3pm!! If this happened during my year of registration...

      hquek:
If news didn't mention whether the girl is in the school, I wouldn't have wanted to think further. Since I know that the girl remains in the school like nothing happened....then a bit not happy. Those who played by the rules, and especially those who lost out to such people (who chose a route that already MOE say cannot) will be definitely upset.

The rules were made plain and clear. It was not something that no body knew existed. Just because people chose to play punk doesn't make it right. If they are not going to move that child out of that school as indicated in the rules, why bother to state it? Just say parent may run afoul of law and go to jail, don't say that child may be transferred to another school.

(blaming the news for telling me too much? probably....)

from the ST forum… wonder why this lady knows sooo much! i cannot find it in the news

The man and the uncle and aunt can’t reach the tenant before and during registration as the tenant went overseas for few months to avoid rental payments to the uncle. The police also cant reach the tenant and few months later finally find tenant and police knocked on his door at midnite.
After the tenant finally came back, they helped the tenant to find a new place to move in and pay for his new place moving deposit and whole moving fees and even helped to pack his stuffs.
They had stayed the registered address place for almost a year and are still staying.
