Thanks very much for sharing!!! I am so much relieved.

Does anyone know whether there is any open house for haig girl in 2013?

      :thankyou:

Haig Girls' has a fairly high % of pupils getting into Express stream..wonder why it's not as popular as other schools in Marine Parade. Did a comparison when I enrolled my daughter there this year. I like the school not just for the results though.

This is interesting, what is CDC councillors do?

Phase 2B only based on the IC address right?

seems CDC is better compare to RC. CDC deals with more professional people, am I right? they understand PA rules and accept changes.

One comment from an internal auditor said that PA auditors can be challenge, no need to follow their advise.
The Primary objective as a councilor is to work with the cdc and mayor to develop relevant programs for the less fortunate and or less privilege. For instance run-away teens, family who needs financial assistance, elderly, social bonding program etc, and we work closely with other GRL organizations to organize various activities. Certain sub committee within CDC also help to raise funds for these activities.

If you are registering in 2013, you are too late for the GRL route.

Hello: I am already an active community leader within a CDC which doesnt need me to be serving in the same constituency. So, where i stay at the point of application will automatically allow me to qualify for phase 2B for that constituency. The thing is the property I am purchasing is under construction, so I am not sure whether the new property purchase qualifie
d as my new address (same constituency as school) under the active
      community leader route. :xedfingers:

Haig girl school is my back up plan. Any comments from anyone on the school performances, academic and personal development wise?

perhaps let the words of assurance from Principal of Haig Girls comfort you:-

\"Strength of character is a hallmark of the Haig Girl.
Remember the words in our school song – ‘Hard though the struggle, stronger our will.\"

Through life’s test, we’ll pass with zeal.

Always remember that the process of character building, of learning to be self-disciplined, responsible and resilient is more important than the results you will get for PSLE.

      Thanks!

We also want you to know that, no matter what results you get for your PSLE, we still love you and will always be proud of you.
Do not let your PSLE results define who you are or how you feel about yourself. You are much more than your results.\"

Hello all, I am pretty new here.

I understand that the school needs to be in the same constituency as where I stay. If the property I newly purchased is under construction the point of the phase 2b application, does that matter? My current property is outside the constituency of school, and I am registering my dd in 2013, and the TOP is in 2014.

      Thanks

      Thanks!

    • RE: 2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take

Hello all. I am thinking of registering my dd In Tao nan next year, and just want to find out a few things:

      1. Will they be reducing intake because they are moving to a temporary location?
      2. Do they offer day care?
      3. They are a SAP school, but is there an option to take normal Chinese if my dd is not keen?

Also, Haig girl school is my back up plan. Any comments from anyone on the school performances, academic and personal development wise?

      Thanks a lot!!

    • RE: [Geylang] Primary Schools

Thanks a lot on your response, snowball. Is your daughter in HGS? I realized the school removed the results from their achievement page and is a little concerned. I read somewhere that the results is now average compared to the national scores, a significant decline since 2 years ago. Not sure what happened there. Any views on their teaching methodology?

may we hear further experience / opinion from more parents (both ex and current) of Haig Girls school ?

To all parents who are considering Haig Girls, I'd encourage you to go for it if you wish to avoid the heartache of balloting. I have 2 girls there and have been very happy with the school's provision of an all-round education. Both my girls have good academic performance but two different personalities - one eloquent and independent, the other shy and needs pushing/encouragement. I have seen both of them flourish and given lots of opportunities to play a role in the school - be it leadership roles, performing art, sports, CCA, academic competitions etc. Most importantly, they are generally happy and have lots of friends.

Hi: do you see any concerns in the recent drop of their academic performance and also the somwhat low chinese race mix as compared with other schools? Thanks

Would like to find out more abt the school. DD will be in for p1 next year!

What would you like to know? My general feedback is that the teachers are caring (although sometimes crusty), and I like the school's emphasis on holistic development. There does not seem to be a lot of homework for DD who is in P4 this year, but there is a fair bit of project work which requires the children to work individually or in teams.

This being a girls school, you can expect the usual cattiness and cliquishness among students. But the school does not tolerate things like poison pen letters and hate notes, and will clamp down when it notices these things happening.

You can join the Parents Support Group. Parents in this group who can spare the time are *very* involved in all aspects of school life.

hello: I am thinking of sending my daughter to Tao Nan but they are moving to a temporary locations in 2014..sigh. To save travelling time, i am now thinking of Plan B - which is haigs girls school. Does anyone have any concern with the drop in their academic results recently and their presumably low chinese vs. non-Chinese ratio. Thanks and greatly appreciated. 😓

Tao Nan will temporarily shift to 2 Bedok South Road, former Temasek Primary / Secondary premise from Jan 2014 to Dec 2015.

This is diagonally across the traffics lights junction with the temporary bedok bus interchange.
Hello: I want to enrol my daughter to Tao Nan in 2014. Do you know whether the distance used during Primary registration would be based on the current location or the Bedok location? Thanks alot! 😓
