• RE: DSA 2014

      hi everyone,

DS went through the DSA process last year and just wanted to say that the DSA process is not easy for everyone, be it GEP or MS. DS is a MS student and when we went through the application, we had the mindset that it is only a bonus to get a CO as it is very competitive. If we were to go through the DSA route, then DS must be prepared to see it only as an additional chance instead of pinning all hopes on DSA.

More often than not, our responses as parents will \"rub off\" to DC and I personally think that DCs take on the way we respond. DC will grow up to learn that the world is never really fair, be it in school or at work, and the best lesson DSA taught our family was to respond positively and help our DC grow in maturity and learning to make positive decisions in spite of disappointments.

Really hard for us as parents as well, but it is also part of the learning process to become the true poker faces šŸ™‚
Went back to read the article again.

\" Mr Khong said the church was willing to let the woman, a church member, keep her baby and job. But she had to apologise for her actions, attend counseling, and end the relationship. The woman attended some counseling sessions, but continued to see the man.\"

It'd be good for MOM to clarify on this issue. MOM Minister Tan Chuan Jin is a pretty sensible and reasonable chap, and a Christian to boot, I'm sure he made that decision in the best interests of all parties.

I read this sentence a few times and it still appeared to be worded very oddly....

Perhaps it was Khong's words anyhow, but I don't think it implied he was considering asking her to have an abortion.
perhaps what the sentence meant was \"keep her baby AND job\"

    • RE: Weight loss. How obsessed are you?

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone has tried herbal life? Have been thinking about trying it out as many friends have told me that it works, but there seems to be some side effects (as with every other product).

One of the interesting thing which I heard was that when you stop using the product, it does not work as well if you decide to start again. 🤷

      Anyone can share?

      TIA!

    • RE: Personality - Myer Birggs Test

just some background because I used to work in sales for psychometric testing šŸ˜“

MBTI is developed by a mother and daughter team, and it is based on Carl Jung's theories (which is used in almost all of the major psychometric tests). In developing the test, it is used as a developmental tool to help parents and teachers understand their children better.

It has value in helping us understand how DC learns best and what they are inclined to, but will be extremely detrimental if we were to use it as a \"box\" to fit our children into.

Having said that, MBTI is considered one of the best tests in the world and it is a great tool if we use it \"correctly\". :boogie:

    • RE: What are the Good( not Great like ACS) IB course in SG

In addition to school fees the other consideration is also the pros and cons of each school, and also the additional costs incurred for co-curricular activities.

Disclaimer: DS applied for DSA to SJI so I may be a bit biased here.

After going through the information of both ACSI and SJI, I personally feel that ACSI does offer more room for leadership development but that means that more investment may be required for the programmes. So in addition to school fees (if that is one of your consideration), the extra costs involved should be considered as well. While some of the activities may not be compulsory, it may be worthwhile to send DD for the programme just so as to gain exposure.

Other than distance, we decided to DSA DS for SJI because of the structure of the programme. Even though both are IB programmes, the execution of the programmes varies and we felt the learning style at SJI may be more suited for DS.

Maybe you would like to check out the curriculum on both their websites and see which kind of programme DD is more inclined to? :boogie:

a bit :offtopic: , but was wondering if anyone can help me with the new gmail setting?

Recently gmail changed their layout and they are now sending my important feeds into \"promotions\". Have no idea how to re-organise and can't remove the tabs as well.

Click on the little \"+\" button all the way on the right of the list of tabs. Then untick all the categories except for \"Primary\". Viola! All your mails back in the \"same place\" šŸ™‚

      Done-ed hooray! :thankyou: :salute:
