I have a question. Hopefully, someone can enlighten me.

At the end of Year 3 in SMTP a boy gets more than MSG 3, what is going to happen?

      TIA.

If after the re-exams, MSG is more than 3, then he goes to the O-level class. If MSG is less than 3 but more than 2, he goes to the IP class. If MSG less than 2, he remains in SMTP.

Haha, CatMoon, I haven't heard about the more than 2 aft re-exams go to IP class scenario... in any case, it should b rare f SMTP boys to go f re-exams. Don't think it had happened in our boys' batch.

If this happens, he can go for re-exams and stays in SMTP as long as his msg is 3 and below.

Anyone knows what's the psle COP for the last few years for entering iSpark? Thanks in advance

I don't think the placement into ispark consortium is based on PSLE COP. Those in the GEP program in primary school will be placed into iSpark. As for mainstreamers placed into iSpark, this is based on assessment during DSA time, and possibly PSLE results to a smaller extent.

Hi, this is what I heard fm the VP (4 years ago l) during his meeting with parents f successful DSA students. DSA boys (sports, acad etc) with v high PSLE scores will be given a choice to join iSpark with the GEP boys.
      Hope the info is useful.

Hi VooVoo, all Sec 1 boys will progress to Sec 2 regardless of results. As far as I know, there is no re exams f Sec 1.

Structured IP in S3 is a prog that is already preparing for O level. In HCI, boys are all afraid to end up in SIP in S3 n Q class in S4. Fm what I observed, boys who go to SIP are those who gamed too much and those who were drilled f PSLE. Out f the 5-6 boys in my son’s S2 class (2016)who went to SIP, 4 entered HCI via PSLE score, 1 sports DSA & 1 academic DSA. Everyone start on the same starting line regardless of PSLE score n mode f entrance. To survive, one has to be independent in learning & diligent. Hope it gives you some idea about IP/SIP in HCI.

      Dear parents

My son is in this year DSA waiting list and we very much want him to study at Hwa Chong. But after attending the Sec 1 Posting briefing session, my son said he’s now quite reluctant because his Primary School’s principal and a teacher said everyone in HC use Chinese everywhere at all time and they even dream in Chinese. Though we are non-Chinese family, my son studies higher Chinese and is doing quite well so far.
So, kindly advise how much is correct what he heard from his school because we believe he can fulfill his potential by studying at HC.
      Hahaha, Not True at all!
My son was from a SAP primary Sch which really use Chinese all the time!
BUT, this is not the case in HCI. To me, it is just like any other English school except that there is more exposure to Chinese culture & Lang.

Anyone knows what's the promotion criteria for Sec 2 students such that my boy doesn't go SIP?

Independent project needs to be B4
      Oral communications C5
All subjects add up need to be less than MSG 4
      Pass in both languages

MSG less than 4.0 is incorrect.

To stay in IP, acad MSG cannot be more than 3.0.
