    • RE: DSA 2013

It seems that your l1r5 is 10. What is your cca grade? Anyway, the school still has to see your prelim results and not just eoy. You need to show consistency in your grades if not better, as eoy grades are usually inflated to promote students to sec 4. You can try mjc though, if you’re in the east. Tjc is worth a try too. What’s your sec sch? And your SMO grade is it junior or senior category one?

Is this your common test results or sec 3 EOY results? Good profile on maths but if you are applying to top tier JCs your english still has to be good enough. What is your combined humanities results?

      Quintessential Mum:
      twilight:

True, my school is accepting appeal from 10 Jan to 31 Jan. But when will the appeal result be released? Unless the school is intentionally reserving places for students without HMT, they won't know how many appeal cases they can accept I think.

The appeal results have been released. FYI, it is for HMT students who did not do well enough to qualify via JAE! So unfair!

lol. is there any official MOE explanation for this?

    • Urgent questions on CLEP

Hi, if for example I enter a JC where CLEP is available although I am fully qualified for the JC without the 2 bonus points of CLEP, can I drop out of the CLEP later on if I cannot cope with it? If I use CLEP to enter HCI, but is not accepted for CLEP instead, I will be relegated to another JC. However if the JC I am posted to has CLEP and I want to drop out of it, can I still stay in that school?

MOST IMPORTANTLY: If I am not accepted to HCI even when I apply for the CLEP, when I try to appeal to HCI, can the 2 bonus points still be used? Meaning, is the bonus 2 points only available for JAE?

    • RE: Important admission questions

      Quintessential Mum:
I heard that some JCs have conducted appeal interviews already (last Friday and Saturday) and made offers. So you may be too late. Of course, it helps if you have connections and appeals will be a breeze. That said, being able to cope/keep up in the chosen JC once you are accepted is a more important issue to address. All the best!

I think the appeal interviews apply to DSA phase 2 students, and not all JCs offer DSA phase 2. @ the connections part, lol. where has meritocracy gone to?!

    • RE: Benefits of CLEP for future admission to uni?

I read the booklet and it says you might get kicked out of the JC if you cannot sit for the A level exam of the CLEP ultimately (if the JC choose to preserve their image and disallow you to take part). I know of some china scholars who even had to drop CL lit because it was too difficult. I don’t know what this means for an average Singaporean student, but I guess it’s going to be more difficult. The question is: should we take the risk?

What are the odds of getting accepted for CLEP though? With an A2 Chinese grade, how difficult would that be? I think there are limited places and A2 is the lowest possible grade to qualify (considering higher Chinese as well).

Does it mean that for instance if I got 4 points and I am accepted to CLEP by schools like HCI, it is a guarantee enter to HCI with an overall of 2 points?

    • Benefits of CLEP for future admission to uni?

Hi, can anyone tell me what are the benefits of having CLEP in JC? I don’t want to miss out another advantage for future admissions. Thanks a lot.
