GG, congrats on yr DD’s successful RA.

Looking at the list of RA applicants, the popularity subjects that the girls are vying for - Math, Chem & Bio.
Surprisingly, HCL did not see much takers this time round.

Hubby and I are paranoid about having authorized dealer servicing our car.
When we renew our insurance, I pay a little more to make sure BM is included for any repairs. Thank goodness for that...if not, I would not be able to bring car back to the 'accident and claims' in BM and settle entirely through third party.

I used to have this mindset opting for AD car servicing on new car insurance.
But now, given my car is coming 6 yrs old, I am comfortable opting for 3rd party car servicing with Sparks Car Care (under Comfort Delgro Group).

I go to Sparks for normal servicing as well cos I find their service comprehensive, friendly and rates wise, it is reasonable ( I will go to the one at Sungei Kadut cos it is less crowded ).

If Sparks is not included in car insurance listing, will likely to use AD and pay alittle more.[/quote]If u have relatives / friends working in Comfort Delgro, there is 15% discount for using Sparks.

    • RE: COE trends

2008-2010 COE prices were below $25k mark.

I was lucky to buy in 2010 and paid less than $20k for Cat B. My 2000cc car that
      I paid was $85k.
With bal 5 more yrs to go, if COE still hovering $50k above, will likely to extend 5 more good years.

Looking at the current trend, I am seeing the younger generation wanting to own the car.
A good example is my neighbour’s son who is on early 20s and in Air Force.
Paid more than $150k on brand new BMW.

To me, it made no sense for flaunting on BMW at the expense of servicing heavy debt.
For $150k, I rather accumulate my wealth and invest in property.

    • RE: GEP 2015 - Screening & Selection

Generally, the HA classes will have more of these students clearing the 1st round.

During DD’s time, more than half the class went for 2nd round. In the end, 7 in that class made it for GEP.

      Dear Parents,

Glad i found this thread. Hope I can get some answers with regards to this supposed GEP test thingy.

My DS just switched to a new school not long ago. Yesterday our neighbour kids, his ex classmates, informed me that DS was 1 of the few in the class selected for test 2 or something. I checked with DS and he did remember taking some kind of Maths/IQ/English tests while still in his old school.

I read here about parents receiving a letter? I did not receive any black and white nor was I contacted by his old school, or the new school, for that matter.

Would like to know if I should be expecting this letter in the mailbox? Or i should contact the schools, in his case?
Suggest u give a buzz to both schs. They should have the results.
If not, reach out to GEB directly.

    • RE: 2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies

Thankfully, last yr was a breeze w/o any haze issue for DD.

Hope all is well for this year batch taking PSLE.

Yes, bring in the sweater if the classroom is air-conditioned. Also, remember to bring 2B pencils in case it breaks and don’t waste time to sharpen.

Wonder if MOE has notified the schools to put PE / CCA on hold?

DD mentioned it would be indoor gym till haze’s over.
