WonderWoman,dunma & Snsn,
Appreciate all your kind sharing & inputs!!! Ours is still a good dilemma so have to be thankful no matter what. Will ask DS to consider carefully for his choice. I dun want to be in our kids' positions nowsdays (so many things to think through) & they are just twelve. Quite sure my parents just made a rough assessment and chop chop decide for me when I was P6 lol...

Hi Esteema,broken:
So even if sch A is NUSH WL, sch B is RI CO. RI CO will not be lost if we place it second choice ??Really want to know. Thank you!
Yes. RI will still be in your hands, whilst your other hand tries to chope NUSH WL (in case u're next. in queue when others release CO.
Anyway, u got WL for NUSH? I hardly hear of WL for NUSH. Well done!
Thanks! we didn't expect RI CO at all, it's really great but this has also given us massive headache n super heated discussions. By now DS is super confused by family members taking different sides of the 2 schools. He really need some time to think through which sch is best for his growth n interests for the next 6 years. His sch, his choice ultimately

Agree, lack of sleep is a problem.googaga:
Exactly. Many are sleep deprived too due to the many deadlines from assignments. They too have their fair share of hard work and expectations to meet. In addition, their papers are different from mainstream except PSLE papers. Please be kind & refrain from showing unnecessary discrimination to these kids.
:goodpost:
Unless you are a parent of a Gepper, you will not understand the amount of hard work they go through.
My DS sleep at 1045 pm to 1 am ( yes in the morning) on average. Good days at 9.45 pm.
No he didn't get any 'free rides' in DSA , but got a WL after interview and test. He is not the only one with a WL in class, some got rejection too. Some of them kept quiet when other boasted of getting COs. I think because he is only gifted in 1 subject ( i.e. translate to super weak in all other subjects which give a not so good average grade). Just getting great marks/bagged top awards for 1 subject is useless for DSA ( at least for him).
No tuition & must live up to teachers' expectations constantly (not mine). It's stressful for him at time , even I feel it from some of the teachers' emails addressed to me. So it's not a great thing to be labelled as Gepper unless you are really gifted in all/most subjects. Yes, then maybe those Geppers will be offered 'free rides' in DSA.
No flaming pls, just giving a honest feedback. -
RE: DSA 2017
Hi,
For sharing. I dug this out from an old DSA thread, but maybe it can give some of us ( or newbies like me) some rationale as to why some kids (even geppers) failed to get COs despite of them doing well in DSA test/interviews. Back then, the pri sch & GAT results matters a lot to determine if sch shd dish out a CO or WL.

RE: NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)
sigh, I can barely concentrate on my work now with all these question marks ??...but regardless of all status (rejected or WLs), let's all give our kids a hug for their efforts and cheer them on no matter what :rahrah:
* for us parents, let's give ourself a pat on the shoulder for trying our best for them too. :grphug: -
RE: NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)
Hi Sun_2010,
Thanks for the advice! So the impression is that normally NUSH will offer a number of WLs & COs that slightly fall short of the required 170 students per cahoot ?? I can already visualise myself trying to count all the students who turn up for the DSA tea session. (!)
Really hope that all the WLs will converted to COs after PSLE results. I personally dun feel very ‘secured’ but also dun want to stress my kid too much before Orals/prelims this month… -
RE: NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)
Hi,
Congrats to those with COs!
Can I check if there will be a chance for the WL status to be converted to CO before PSLE results ? And anyone has a clue how to guage if the kid is ‘ranked’ high or low in the WL ? ( * do we call n ask admin ?)
Thank you v much -
