      Snow24:
      Hi

KK diagnose toddler as young as 21 months to have ASD?

My baby is 18 months now he only know how to say papa, bus. He don't know how to say mama, nor gesture, point to request for things. He likes to look at spinning fans.

We not sure if he is language delayed only or possible of ASD.
I believe the child was diagnosed by the autism Dr at kk.
My child too, was diagnosed at 25 months by the doctor. She told me they ever diagnosed a child as young as 16 months.
I was asked to go for psychology assessment after 2.5 years old.

Snow24, I suggest you send your child for assessment.

      Hello everyone,

My son was just diagnosed with autism last week. My wife and me was in panic mode in last couple of days. He is 21 month now and didn't speak at all, only baba/mama in a few times. And seldom respond to his name. He likes spin things a lot. Anything, from toys to basins.

We have applied for EIPIC from KK, however, till now still no response from SG ENABLE. So I just called back. They replied that they have received the letter from KK, but not yet the medical report. Normally it will take a few weeks to prepare it. After that, they will process the application for another a few weeks... Why it is so slow??

I don't want to waste anytime for my son, what should I do now??
      Don't panic.
You can send your child to 1-1 private speech and occupational therapy. Pm me if you need more help.

      Hi,

Any recommendation of PD or Nutritionist who believe in treating asd with diet/supplements.
I see some results after removing casein and limiting gluten in boy boy’s diet. However, his weight gain has been very slow in the past 6 months. Thinking of bring him to see dietician.

      Thanks mummies for your feedback.

My boy can request using gesture and point to far object already.
But he doesn’t show me things he likes yet.
Yes. Always create opportunity for him to request. But he only uses gestures, no words.
I just don’t understand why my current eipic still don’t want to start PEC, my boy has been there for 6 weeks already. I keep in touch with a mummy whose boy is with another centre, they already started PEC in the first few weeks.
Teacher said gross motor skills and body muscle will affect speech, is it true?

They don’t make use of every activity to teach the kids.

For example, at playground, they just let the kids run around. In my opinion, they can teach turn taking when the kids are playing on the slides.

      Key problem of my boy:

      1) no joint attention
      2) no speech at 2.5 years old
      3) tip toe
      4) non compliance ie only want to do things he likes.

Current Eipic focuses on motor skills and I don’t understand why they don’t focus on communication as all his classmates are non verbal.
Eg for lesson today, they spend 10 mins walking backward on slope, 15 mins free play in classroom, 30 mins sensory play (scoop salt and sprinkle salt on glue), 20 mins on snack, 15 mins circle time.
How these activities can address my boy’s problem?!

      Hi Cool Cool,

Which private eipic you are with? How many hours per week?
They can cover so many things?
My son eipic, only has circle time, some sensory play and art, playgym, hydrothetapy and snack time. That’s all.
I can’t find any pretend play toys in the class room!
Not much 1 on 1 OT and ST too. The therapist will only come in once in a while and advice teachers what to do.
No story telling session, no specific language session.
Maybe they think the kids are not able to do certain things such as pretend play and listening to story. So they don’t have these activities in the class.
