Thanks . How is Bukit Panjang Govt High School for O level.[/quote]I heard positive feedback about BPGHS. If you stay in West esp. Choa Chu Kang, this is one of the most preferred school. But they offer only Chinese / Malay languages at their school. If your child is taking any other languages, he needs to choose nearby language centres.

      SJI vs Swiss cottage:
Parents, need advise. My son met COP for SJI o level (non-affiliation) (247), but still not shortlisted and allotted to Swiss cottage. Now I am in a dilemma whether to appeal or not.

I see many benefits being in Swiss cottage like proximity to home, literally no fees, more subjects offered compared to SJI etc., SJI is independent school (where I need to pay some fees), 40 mins travel time etc., I understand, in terms of outcomes for O-level, both schools produce similar results.

Is still SJI better than swiss cottage? What are the advantages of being in SJI?

If it’s purely for O level, I’ll stick to Swiss cottage sec sch. Reason being that both schools will lead to the same outcome. One thing to note is that Swiss cottage is coed and SJI is a boys school. So you need to also ask yourself whether your son will thrive in which environment. Personally I prefer a coed school.

SJI -> They have their Innomakers program. Not sure whether that program is for o-level as well. Call and check with them. 2nd, check no. of CCAs offered. SJI has more variety than swiss cottage. But it depends on your son's interest. Also, the Swiss cottage is one of the pilot schools for full SBB, so in a class, you may have a mix of Express & N-level students for some subjects. Other than that, I don't personally see a big difference between Swiss cottage & SJI.

Seems this year PSLE results are better. A lot of happy faces in my DS school. DS slightly exceeded expectation. Not sure about Cutoff whether it might go up or not…!!

      From MOE's facebook page:

The PSLE results come out tomorrow. Whatever the outcome, our students deserve a big pat on the back for reaching their first education milestone – with many more to come. It is also an event that often brings parents and child closer together.
In this column, writer Eveline Gan reflects on her experience receiving the PSLE results with her daughter last year. The mother of two says, “Although I had hoped that my daughter would do well for her exams, a series of humbling events that had happened over the year made me realise that there are more important things that matter to me as a parent, such as my child’s health and wellbeing.”
