AH is Band 1, not band 2.

Sorry I don't mean to be rude.
AH was in Band 1 based on 2010 O Level results.
Based on Latest last year 2011 'O' Level, it is in Band 2.
MOE doesn't update schools' Banding this year.
I found out from school.
Thanks, noted.
Hi, thanks for all the sharing. I prefer st nick but ds prefer AHS. Since ds is the one studying, then no point forcing her?

If AHS is the preferred choice, then no point putting st nick, is my rationale correct?

My DD cannot qualify for St Nicks. Yrs can, that's why I find it a waste not to opt for St Nicks as yr lst n 2nd choice.
As mentioned, if yr DD wants IP Prog, St Nicks IP will b easier to get in compared to DH.
Between AH n St Nicks, both are SAP and gd schools but still a difference in academic std.
St Nicks' Culture is unique.U shd bring her down to see the school's campus before 12 pm today. Hv a feel of the school.
Sorry abit long winded.

Also , AH is Band 2 while St Nicks is Band 1.
May not b impt but still...
AH is Band 1, not band 2.
Just heard from my boy that the promotion criteria to sec 3IP is not more than MSG 3. Thou my son is less than msg3 but really feel sorry for those who can't make it. Just don't understand why there is a sudden change in promotion criteria. I dun think it's fair to announce after EOY exam. M really worried for my son next year if the promotion criteria to sec4 IP is <msg3 cos the sec 3 EOY Maths exam paper is very tough. Is it true that starting from next year they have to get at least A2 for LA in order to get promoted to sec4IP as well?Haizz..no sure if m putting my sons in the right school now, giving them so much stress...din know about all these criteria before putting them in HCI. I wonder going forward how many Q class will there be with all these new promotion criteria implemented.

I also agree that it is not fair to announce this after the exam. The boys were told that this change is triggered the lowering of the CSC requirement from msg 1 to msg2. The IPSP has been removed. So now there is only CSC and IPSP.

CSE or IPSP paper are even more challenging than the usual IP papers but the promotion criteria did not adjust for CSE and IPSP for promotion to JC1 leh. Liddat who dare to option for entry to CSE and SP subjects?
Otah, this is my concern too.

If taking baby steps to change, suggest that they start with testing Only what is being taught in ALL primary school. Then there is more level playing field. Do away with those unnecessary streaming which only sieves out the cream of crop. And PSLE will not be so stressful.

No, I think the 1st thing to do is the improve on the textbook. Without a ref, how do anyone know what they are supposed to be taught.

Right, it's a chain effect.

I heard from classmate's mother that DHS is a govt school so limited DSA academics vacancies unlike NYGH is independent school which they can decide to award how many DSA vacancies.

Not sure if it is true.

Ya, half of the capacity is reserved for DSA , and the other half for S1 postings.
My speculation is that ....could it be more vacancies are allocated for sports, PA rather than academics,
thus more stringent via academics ? :scratchhead:

Or more vacancies were set aside for PRC/Asean scholars, thus leaving a smaller capacity for DSA & S1 posting? Just a speculation. :siam:

• RE: There are more dogs than humans in Singapore
As per reported in my paper:

has been studying here since sec 2 and introduced himself as being twice chosen to be on the dean's list. now an intern and due to graduate in a few months' time. He left a message with my paper reporter:' he is ranting due to some frustrations and has deleted the post. He does not want to blow up the matter and did not mean to 'attack' us, apologise for causing the uproar and kindly let the matter rest. Please understand.'

:nunchuk: :spank: :pokeeye: :torchme:[/]

Felt he is backing down now bcos he could be worried this incident might affect his completion of his uni study (only few mths left), or he could be worried that it will leave behind a record & thus affect his testimonies.

That frustration he had seemed to have built up over time & not just any random rant.

I read his reponses to his friends comments included scolding of Alex (believed is the one who reported that black lip PRC student fr a pte tertiary here who made insulting comments about our malay community on youtube) 挫逼 which I understand is an equivalent of the anatomy vulgar word, also his saying of waiting for Alex with a knife if he dares to look him up.

I can't imagine how he will be as a person living here while serving his
contract & how much more 'frustration' & 'rant' he will have after he graduated. Anyway, for someone who has such hatred for S'pore, I'm doubtful if he will ever serve out his bond. He is already lucky to be able to proceed on to NUS without having to spent 2 yrs in the NS. If he is now even trying to find ways or loopholes to escape his bond, then we should really  :stupid:

Otah:

The compulsory boarding school program at sec 3 is wonderful. Both parents and Ds are delighted about it. My ds, now sec 2, can't wait for his turn but he would like to know if it is possible to stay for more than one term and under what criteria. Anyone can help me find out during the briefing? TIA.

Is boarding compulsory at sec 3?
