Actually, the canteen is not air-conditioned. The hall and classrooms are.

You can take bus 96 from B17 (in the picture) and alight 3 stops later to arrive at the clementi mrt station. B11 and B12 are also common bus stops students go to, if there is a bus there that will send you home. It takes 15 minutes to walk from the school to clementi mrt. Some students prefer to walk instead of taking the bus.
As for directions on how to walk, firstly, turn right from the side gate (or the main gate, but distance for main gate will be longer) and walk till you see a traffic light and cross it. You should see a food court. Then continue walking straight, then turn right, you should be at the road junction. Cross it to your left, and continue walking straight till you reach another road junction. (from here you should be able to see the mrt station already)
And the chinese standard in this school is still manageable, and there will still be a class or two offering normal chinese. So do not worry.
As for subject combi allocation, the school tends to give you the choice you selected. -

Understand that will be oversea camp for sec 3 student in january 2012... anyone have more feedback like which country etc... thanks.
Usually the students go to Malaysia, for an adventure camp (which helps students complete one of the requirements for the NYAA award). -

I have been told by the teachers that the town council agreed to help the school to pay some amount of the air con bills, hence the school's expenses are lower.
hi loler12loler12:
No. You shouldn't assume this way. I have been studying 1 year in NH so far and there were many enrichment programmes organised. We learnt ' di xi gui ' that instil moral values in students and how to appreciate chinese culture such as chinese caligraphy and chinese painting in my sch. all sec 1 students also have to undergo some kind of student leadership programme which is compulsory. Also, NH also organise some events such as Maths and Science week ( if im not wrong ) and major events such as our annual Sports Carnival and Mid Autmn Festival ( which we set up a stall to sell stuff like drinks, tibits )
Academic wise, rest assured as teachers would call for the class to stay back to give them the last push for their exams or tests, or simply just for revision. That is, only provided by hardworking and dedicated teachers ( which you can't really blame NH for that ). Besides, NH teachers would also distribute materials which are made by the respective HOD departments. they would also give out past year's paper for practice
Hence, from the different programmes organised, i dun think NH is cutting down on any programmes.
glad that u r enjoying yourself in nhh n good tt u clarify.
my views r just that of an outsider.
sometimes it is also not the quantity but the quality n impact of the activities n programmes that matters.
but 1 thing for sure, some things have to go in order to foot the extra aircon bills. budget is finite unless school has some form of sponsorship or donations to cover the additional expenses. -
Need financial assistance
I have a neighbour who just divorced with her husband. They have a child who is going to enter secondary school next year. As you all know, secondary schools requires alot of money for books, and other extra stuffs. However, they are not qualified to be able to join the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) since they are Permanent Residents (PR). The husband for some reason refuses to convert to Singapore citizen and gives not enough money to the wife to support the family, complaining that he has no money. The wife also has another younger child to take care of and is hence unable to find a job to support the family. Is there other ways to get financial assistance from other organisations?
