My son is joining sec 1 next year and he would like to find out more on Robotics CCA. So far we heard that this CCA is super hot and need to pass through some tests. So, would like to know if you can share more info about this CCA:

1. Prior skills in both robotics and coding needed? If coding, which language?
2. What will be tested in the selection rounds?

3 sets of school uniforms and 2 sets of PE attire.

Some thought on the following:
Long pants just once a week (Monday), so may be just 1 piece enough?
Jacket: worn on some occasion only - so KIV or get a bigger size

CO received from VJ Hockey (26th Aug2021) sent via email. No calls from VJ

I have a question, in the letter, it mentioned that my child must still be eligible to attend the Express course offered in VJ based on his PSLE results. The cut off point mentioned in enclosed link for for VJ is 9 points (O Level Results). In my mind, if i am very confident my son can get this score, i dont i need to go through the trouble of DSA?

Firstly, it’s VS, not VJ, at least I’m assuming that’s the case. Same same but different. VS IP will send you direct to VJ, VS OP no guarantee you will end up in VJ. You can also DSA to VJ, but you will have to complete your O first.

Generally, if you are very confident of scoring at least 1 or 2 points better, you don’t need to DSA. However, there are multiple what-if scenarios and it has happened many times to many people. Something you have to think about. DSA only needs you to score a 20 or 22? Not sure which but that’s a huge discount from COP of 9.

Just to add on my view. Please also consider if your child really want to get into the school and the DSA domain/CCA. There are cases where the Sec school CCA already filled up with DSA, and left 0 or may be just handful for non DSA students.
