P2c will cfm hv 4o slots from next yr onwards. Meaning that by 2a2, if still hv 60 slots, are they only giving 20 to p2b? Cos 40 has to go to p2c?

What if there are schools with lesser than 40 slots?

Think most likely, pap will time it such that they will announce the new policy changes (if any), in time for general election. (strategy trick - give people a \"sweetener\")

In what way is Phase 2A cap a sweetener? It may be the right thing to do, but I don't see how it will win them any votes overall.

they cant please everyone. but if they dun do something, alot of ppl will continue to be unhappy abt it.

May squeeze 2A2and2B to free up more places for 2C.
That way doesn't impact the wealthier fee paying alumni. They can still buy their kids a place at the front of the queue by paying their subs.

The only ones impacted will be ex-students who dont pay alumni fees.
at the same time encourages more ex-students to pay to become alumni and fill school coffers.

      ........ everyone wins.

P2A(2) should just be scrapped. It is probably for the better and something that should have been done all along.

The cynics can say P2A(1) is for the wealthier fee paying alumni. However, most alumni fees aren't expensive - definitely cheaper than a few sessions of piano/ballet/tuition etc that many parents are more than willing to pay. As of today, parents enrolling in P2A(2) can also get into any school, why should anyone spend money to be a part of P2A(1)? :siao:

Among the early phases, P2A(2) (with the exception of the parents-teachers) is the one with the least commitment to the school of their choice. To be eligible for P2A(1), an alumni has to pay the membership fees and join the association up to a year in advance. Given that a sizeable number of people do (without any real advantage over P2A(2) as of today), I could argue that these members are more often than not, genuinely interested in their alma mater.

Also, parents aiming to be a PV or be in the GRL/clan/religious groups in order to be eligible for P2B has to do so up to a year in advance. Early planning is required, as well as the willingness to volunteer time and energy for any worthy (or even unworthy) causes.

P2A(2)? Nothing. Just turn up with the report book and viola! As good as strike lottery (at least, that has been the case so far). Forward planning? Not really required. Parting with money/time/energy (i.e. a proxy for commitment)? Not required. Hence, why should these folks be accorded the priority?

P2A(2) is probably the best phase to \"chope\" seat while waiting to see whether the one you really want opens up in P2B or P2C (since you will have lose nothing but can gain every good thing in return).

There is still a couple of years before my child registers for P1. im not from any alumni or elite schs. by then, not sure what are changes they will implement to the system.

after hearing what you say, i have to agree that 2a2 is quite meaningless and shld be scrapped, if not the most limited placings for them.

I see that so far all the p2b from rgps have got in. 🙂 the applicants are much lower than the vacancies allocated this year.. could it be the moving to mt sinai and most parents feel that it's inconvenience?

asking cos i'm considering to try my luck for pv in rgps. seems from the past years stats http://www.rgps.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=52943 that the no of applicants are just nice..
