End of an Era: Old Woodlands Town Centre

In the 1970s, there were grand plans to turn Woodlands from a sleepy backwater into Singapore's largest satellite town. Woodlands Town Centre was built to serve not just this town, but also Malaysians from neighbouring Johor Bahru. Forty years on, the Town Centre is no longer the centre of Woodlands but at its periphery, an estate making way for the Woodlands Checkpoint extension later this year. Join urban historians Jinhua and Eisen on a walk down memory lane - tracing the origins of “Marsiling”, appreciating the unique architecture of the town centre's buildings, and finding out just what makes it a “frontier town”.
