I have a quick question here.

ACS(I) has both IB and "A" level students. Does the "A" level student feels insecure or inferior studying in the school? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

      thanks

    • RE: Is PSLE so important?

PSLE are only the first major exam Singapore students take. What you can achieve later in life has very little to do with PSLE.

Take me for example, I was a marginal case in PSLE (during my primary school days, there were no PSLE scores, we were told pass or fail). I made it to ACS (There was only one ACS in those days). I was placed in the middle of the cohort. (The top student went to "A" class while i was in "H" class). I failed several subjects in my first semester (oops!!). Subsequently, I have done reasonably well.

PSLE - no score but middle of the cohort.
O levels - 10 points (above average in those days)
A levels - 4 As (I was offered scholarships but rejected all of them)
NUS - top engineering student and gold medalist

Bottom line, with the correct motivation, a late bloomer can do well academically. Hence, if you done badly in PSLE, it is not the end of the world. Similarly good PSLE results mean nothing to your future employer. PSLE is just the first road block of a long and winding road.

      LOLMum:
if you are coming from bukit timah road (planning to make a u turn at the traffic light to dunearn road) or steven road, you would really hate the person who park at the island.

For drivers going to scgs, here are my observations:

Morning peak hour tariff - adjust your watch forward by 10minutes. If it rains, adjust your watch forward by 15 to 20 minutes.

As for afternoon peak hour traffic, my advise is to have your DD waiting at the CNIS bus stop. Otherwise, you may have to \"queue in line\" again....

Have fun and make sure your car air con works well.....

      Right on :hi5:

if there was a similar setup for boys -- i hv a ds -- i'd move hse to the area liao.
I believe ACSP fits your bill - although ACS (Barker) may not be the best secondary school along this area....

personally, i would prefer smps if scgs ballot is <75%. I heard quite a few girls from my daughter’s k2 class are going to smps. They are all intelligent and fun girls. I believe the standard of smps will rise.

      Just my gut feel.

Personally i would consider Marymount convent and St Margaret for 2C if balloting becomes too HOT. As for boys, I have heard good things about Hong Wen, St Andrews, Maris Stella.

      That is just me.

      For SCGS,

      SC (<2km) 26
      SC (>2km) 7
      PR 1

      Balloting required for >2km
