also wanted to ask if we will know the number of students intake for the school to be reduced?
for example temasek primary 200 in 2020 drop from 240 in 2019....
if possible anyone know if red swastika is also dropping to 200 students also or remain?

thank you
Usually the quota for the number of vacancy is only announced during that year when phrase 1 starts if i didn't remember wrongly.
Hi all,

Newbie here and would like to know anyone registering for ACSJ?
I have an issue with after school care as both myself and hubby works and we don't have help with picking our boy after school... how does a school care centre works when it's not within school compound? Does it mean the kid have to make their own way to the centre?

Would appreciate some pointers..

Thanks! :thankyou:

Usually the student care centre that is off the school compound will come over to the school to fetch the students back to the centre.

Hi Derek,

Would you happen to know if I should be frantically looking for a spot for my son now or wait for orientation day with ACSJ (since their facilities is still under construction).

I have no clue on how to go about doing this at all. 🤷

Many thanks..
Hi Gie2,

With most parents working these days in order to support the household, student care are in demand to a certain extent. It really depends on where you want to place your child, choosing a right student care is of importance as it will be where your son will spend most of his afternoons.

You might want to consider going a walkabout to list down the available student care around the school, visit them and view the place and see if it satisfies the daily needs of your son and if the environment is conducive for your son's learning. At the same time, find out more about their daily curriculum or timetable. These can be done while you wait for Orientation Day to come whereby you get to view the school student care itself. By then you probably would be able to make an informed decision as you have all the necessary information you need to make that decision.

Hi,

I have read quite a few good reviews of West Spring Primary School. I went on to search for psle score but no where to be found. Can anyone direct me to the right page? or there isn't any being recorded since its' operations in 2014?
West Spring Primary is still a relatively new school, having its first batch of Primary 6 this year. Hence, there should not be any score available for it.

I share the same feeling .... the wait seemed so long and am counting down too. Anyone knows what time to report to new school on 20th Dec? Is it fixed time or anytime within the stipulated schedule? Thank you.

School dependent...I have this impression reporting time would be like 730 or 8ish?

Ds is enjoying his off-time to the max. I hope he chillax as much as he can since the next mountains to climb will be tougher than before, so am telling him to treasure and basically do whatever he wants.

Reporting time would be 8.30am on the 20th Dec

So I have a different take on this poem. I think the poet implies too, that our kids are blessed that their biggest problem, is just about doing well in some exams. Compared with what other 12yos face in this world, this is stress yes, but not life and death.

And learning how to handle stress is just one of those things that we must learn in life.

Do I sound rather harsh?
True in another perspective if we are to compare the left poem with the right one...

Not sure if you have seen this poem, but it was making the rounds on social media today. It won the prestigious Commonwealth Essay Competition 2018.

Taking a look at the thoughts of a “typical 12-year-old” on the right side of the poem, you can see how stressed out and “sad life” a PSLE student feels.

I wept at the poignancy of this poem. They just want the assurance that they are loved by us, regardless of their grades.

(Not even touching on the sadness of the left side of the poem or the impressive maturity of the author)
Yeah, it has been making its rounds.... What amaze me more is how thorough the poem is, showing the full side of our education system from the 12 yo perspective.

Bedok-South. Principal very good in talking and explanation but at the end no acceptable reason for the incomplete material that they charged parent. Principal protecting the bad temper teacher. My children results no good, not their fault but my fault for choosing the centre that not registered with MCYS and anyhow charged parent but never properly teach the children. MCYS Officer adviced me to monitor and if abuse happen, I should call the police as the centre is not registered with them and not under their jurisdiction. And adviced me to share my bad experience so that parent be aware. What a bad decision I made, should have to go registered centre with MCYS.

Very sorry to hear of your experience... I would say not all centres who are not registered with MCYS are like that... There are centres out there privately ran by operators who are equally dedicated... hope you find a suitable centre for your children's growth and learning.
