Last year WL was 40. Not all sessions will be completely filled up. Personally, I won’t bother what is the WL % and whether rejection rate is high or low.

Same as mine! Wonder are there many GEPs students at NUS HIGH?

I think there are usually fewer than 20 in the cohort...just a guesstimate coz NUSH usually not Gepers 1st choice school

I think last year close to 50.

      - GEP classes, how many ?
      - Sports classes,
      - MEP / AEP ?

This year, 11 and 12 are pure Geppers GEP classes.

Just to share, HCI total intake 382. 118 admitted under DSA (30.9%). I believe it is a lower % than last year.

This year, many WLs in the Big 4 were not converted.

From last year, the drop is about 90 DSA places. My son was on WL and he decided to give it a go. We stared at the letter for a whole minute cos we couldn't believe he got in. We were told it's very hard this year. I had an older son that also did DSA and that was smooth sailing and so I was prepared for not getting in and in a way I was half hoping he will not get in.
Verdict : never try, never know. Got it already, don't complain.

HCI used to have 12 classes but dropped 1 class in 2016; perhaps it may open back that class when the birth rate goes back up to a higher number in the next few years.

For NYGH, if the DSA places given is 35%, ie ~130 + 71 affiliated, what remains is 190 places. Hypothetically, perhaps just 30 good tscores girls decided to move onto other schools allowing 30 girls with 258 & about there who gamely give it a go... and so this batch of kangho families \"make history\".
To me, more importantly, is how your child will fit into the school; 1 consideration will be going in a lower tscore than most of those in the cohort. So, I do wish all the best to these kids and same to my own child.

Unlikely to be 90 dsa places drop. Add back 90 to 118 is 208 which is over 50% (not possible as dsa in the past was capped at 50%).

For NYGH, 71 includes nyps DSA students too. So your computation of 191 is too low. Will be higher.

It may not be fair to say that. I too have friends in similar situations; they did not choose NYGH as their 1st choice as their kids’ tscores are below 260. It is not true they never thought of going over.

Maybe your chart lah, estimating the COP of NYGH to be 262-263 which scares off people!! 🦆

P/S: I counted 71 NYPS girls (MS+GEP) going back to NYGH.

how many of 71 is through affiliation? or affiliation is counted separately?

All in. 71 is lower than recent 2 yrs but this factor alone will not cause huge drop.
      Other likely reasons:
      1. Significantly less high scorers above 270 this year. 250-260 \"v fat\".
      2. Reduction in places for DSA (further cut in % this yr vs last yr)
      3. Some parents really scared off by last year's high COP. Already heard of people going to appeal.

This year's nyps cohort generally not as strong as other years. And normally, those top students in school are dominated by girls (like total clean sweep) but this year's cohort is a bit different, boys quite strong. I remember when my DC was in P2, a T shared the many gals in his class, maths not good.

Dimsum, you work for MOE? Lol.

Like how many boys/girls did well this year, last year PSLE top scorer etc. I notice your info is very accurate and you seem to know a lot. :salute:

      Lol. Actually all hearsay.

This year's COP for the big fours lower than previous years. Does it mean the 2018 national cohort not as strong as previous years? Just wondering...

RI and HCI higher by 1 point.
