RE: Nanyang Kindergarten
Hi there, can’t speak for Montessori, but I feel Nanyang Kindergarten sets up the child well in terms of Chinese language as they offer only Chinese curriculum for Pre-Nursery and Nursery before transitioning to bilingual (English & Chinese) in K1 and K2. I feel this is a competitive advantage. My daughter is more confident with Chinese language and I see it as a stronger start off to the rigorous education system in Singapore. As for character building, it is incorporated into the program - preschoolers are taught to share, help one another, keep toys after playing (major relief for me!), line up for their turn etc. The school also teaches 弟子规 but don’t think our kids really understand. I do read that with my daughter and explain simply to her what it means.
SJK (Saint James Kindergarten) on the other hand only offer English curriculum, but I like the school environment especially the Harding campus. There are even animals in the compound. However I also heard that one will definitely need to send the child for Chinese enrichment in order to catch up with the language.
Not much exposure to Montessori and you did not name which one. There are not many true Montessori in Singapore, so please select wisely.
Do PM me if you need more information. Happy to chat. -

RE: Nanyang Kindergarten
Happy New Year 2017!
Feeling excited yet emotional at the same time as my daughter starts Pre-Nursery at Nanyang Kindergarten tomorrow. Will be accompanying her for the first three days and juggle work at the same time.
See all of you there! Let’s try to form a WhatsApp group!
