Unless you have been living under a rock, I find it shocking that you actually need data to prove that flats near popular schools are expensive. You just have to google for 'flats in yishun' and 'flats in queens road' to know that a 5 room flat in yishun cost about $420k while a 5 room flat in queens road is valued at $768k. I wonder if such ignorance is genuine since the property prices are pushed up by people like you who die die want a piece of others' alma maters.

You kept saying it's by logic that distance priority should come in, but if you had exercise any logical thinking, why wouldn't the alumni move near to their alma maters if not for the rocket prices of those rich people's flats?

Go get a life, 3Boys. Please know that the 40 seats are introduced not bcos you made a lot of noise on this forum but was reflected as feedback at One Singapore Conversation, unless you were also there and called for it to happen.

Oh I just looked up the HDB website. A 5 rm next to Ai Tong just sold for $620k. A few others opposite kuo chuan Presbyterian pri sold for $750-850k. Hmmm I never realized Kuo Chuan Presbyterian is so much more popular than Ai Tong.
Please lor.... Real estate prices are a lot more heavily influenced by other factors than just good schools. Going by your logic, you should be able to afford a property in sentosa easily because there are absolutely no schools there within more than 2 km

I saw this amazing claim of cooking porridge with just a thermos flask, some rice and hot water. Does it really work? Do we need special grain? Sorry, I'm newbie to thermal cooking.

Should be able to. I used to cook porridge in the 350ml thermos food container for my girl when she was young since she is a very small eater. I just bring to boil rice, stock and fish and veg etc for 5 min then I immediately pour the boiling mixture into the flask and screw it on. Porridge normally ready by the time I feed her 1 hr later. It won't be soft like baby porridge, more like teochew porridge texture. If u want baby porridge texture u probably have to boil longer than the 5 min that I do.

I am not sure why the rest of the world is so silent on this. My blood boiled when I read this. They were kidnapped because they were reviving education. The CMI gov cannot find them after so long, actually I doubt they really tried.

I really cannot imagine what the girls are going thro right now 😢

    • RE: Where to get gold ring expanded?

My Granduncle used to work as a goldsmith in On Cheong in Chinatown. He used to be one of those skilled goldsmiths at the back of the shop that would customize the gold pieces according to customers needs on the spot, perfect for what you need. I’m not sure if they still provide this service after all these years since he has retired for almost 20 years, but think its worth giving them a call to check it out. Think there should be more traditional shops in Chinatown that would still have a higher chance.

    • RE: Parents let kid pee openly & run abt at hawker center

These are the tourists lah. I mean the ones that are living here, they are generally more conscious of their behaviors here compared to the ones living in SG.

Seriously the PRCs here think that SG is like PRC.

I am currently in US and there are quite a lot of PRCs and Indians. Granted the toilets in Chinatown are still the dirtiest in the whole of this city, I find that the PRCs and even the Indians here generally try to integrate more than the ones in SG. The PRCs that I talk to here seem to feel that they are in ang mo place so they are truly foreigners so they need to mind their behaviors. But in SG, they think that since most people are Chinese, they can behave the same way as back home and they dun make and effort to mind their behaviors. This is the main difference. Since the gov wants to bring them in such big numbers, they need to make sure that they understand that SG is very different fr China, they need to try and integrate and mind their manners just like when they are in the western countries.

Seriously, the talking loudly and jumping queues are highly irritating but I can still tahan (after rolling my eyes of cos). But this poo and pee in public is a serious threat to public hygiene and safety, and we should take a zero tolerance approach to it. We are famous for being a "fine" country. If we can be fined for throwing a piece of tissue or cigarette butt, surely this offense should be 1000x worse? Fine the parents or grandparents 1st time $10k, second time cancel their DP/WP/EP/PR and not to return to Singapore land for the next 3 years, on the basis that they are a threat to national safety. If Singapore citizen, have to undergo compulsory counseling. This will be one tough law that I will support.

There was once I was at the playground of my friend’s condo with my DD and my friend’s kid. There was a PRC boy (abt 4 yo) who told his father (young, professional looking) that he wanted to pee and he just let him pee on the playground floor!! I glared at him and quickly packed the kids upstairs. When the kids asked me why we have to leave so hastily, I said very loudly "这里都被那些没文化的人弄脏了!”

They looked like residents there and the condo rental is easily $4k a month or close to $1.3 mil. The shocking thing is it’s not limited to the less educated/lower income PRC
