Hi 2 years back , I remembered the alumni or the school advisory board said that they are trying to apply to MOE to upgrade yangzheng as a SAP Sch . With it's long historical Chinese history n frequent mention of it's name in the Chinese newspaper, I thought the school should tap on it's strong Chinese alumni to build up itself as a SAP school .

Can the school comment on the status? Do the parents have a chance to meet the school advisory board members during any of the school events?

Nowsday, the school doesn't seem to reply to the parents queries at the thread anymore .
I think I did see an article somwhere at the entrance to the school which quoted that Yangzheng should strive to be a SAP school. So far I have not seen or heard anything about this being worked on, maybe the school had done some efforts in this direction and we would appreciate you can share with us.

Please keep the paid receipt so that they know who had paid when they gave out the 6 books in class. The teacher asked the pupils to bring the receipt to school.

Which are the 6 books huh? I thought my son has all his books already...

Er. What are the 6 books?
From the 2012 Booklist for Primary 1:-

4. FTGP Journal P1 ($1.80)
5. YZPS Pupil's Embroidered Name Tag ($6.50)
6. YZPS Pupil's Handbook 2012 ($3.80)
Yup..i spend 400 plus for books and uniform..

I picked the whole booklist and stationery, costs around 350+ and the uniforms around 90+. Total damage at least 450.

There are six books (paid) but to be given out when the school year starts. And there are no available stock of the black PE shorts (S size).
Please keep the paid receipt so that they know who had paid when they gave out the 6 books in class. The teacher asked the pupils to bring the receipt to school.

The black PE short (S size) is still not available. The bookshop told me it will arrive after the Chinese New Year.

Thanks !! Dragonflow

Will sewed the name tag
Another parent told me that they just ironed on the name tag without sewing and the name tag is still ok. Maybe we did not iron long enough or the iron was not hot enough. 🤷

There has been some anecdotes from other parents that the canteen vendors sometimes 'extend credit' to some pupils when they didn't bring money for food. It happened to my girl once too. She was short of 10 or 20 cents for something she wanted to buy but the stall auntie allowed her to have it. We are very thankful and promptly prepared extra money for her to return to the stallholder.

It was very nice of the stall vendor to do that. As a guide, the teacher's advice is to bring only 2 dollars to school everyday. Good for a main dish and a drink (if required). We always remind our girls to drink from their own water bottle rather than get those processed drinks from outside. So we have to check her wallet everyday and top up the cash to 2 dollars, in the process, we also get to know what they have taken during the reccess.

The name tags were being ironed on to the uniforms but they soon peeled off. So we have to probably at least sewed the four corners even though they are thought to be ironed on.

ha ha... i heard a friend of mine said that his son who is in Nanyang Pri Sch, also experienced the coin changing scenario there previously... Must start teaching DS the value/denomination of money, as well as how to reply when faced with such a situation...

For them to appreciate the \"value\" of money at this age is tough. As they do not have much experience as to how much $1 or $100 can buy them to date, one method is to have them to try to buy daily household items or food (either to be used or consumed by us or the child) by themselves. I always take every opportunity (not when the place is busy or crowded) to let my girls to buy things (especially food) for themselves whenever we are out. She is able to find out the price (valued under a hundred) of the item, take the appropriate note (in ones and tens) and calculate the change.

Yes, she did have a girl classmate asking for money because she has forgotten to bring money to school. My girl did not give her the money. I advised her to approach the teacher in all these situations and with the acknowledgement of the teacher, she may lend others money. She may be able to handle these money situations in the future after she learned how the differentiate which of those requests for money are the good ones and which are the bad ones.

I have a friend whose boy was outright asked for pocket money from another boy last year in another primary school. The boy gave him the pocket money and ended up without money for food. This happened on subsequent days and my friend reported this to the school and the other boy's parents informed. I think the incidents finally stopped and he is in Primary 2 now.

Arranged for DD and DS to take sch bus this year, but both single trips, so it's very ex... while return trip costs $100, single trip is only $10 cheaper, so it's $180 for us every month...

Heard that it will be single-session next year. Not sure whether it's true...

DS seems to be ok with sch so far. He even called his best friend from kindergarten 2 days after sch started, and chatted happily... in contrast, DD who is in P3 this year has never called any friends on the phone before...
As regard to the single-session, the school has not given any committed timeline to what I know. There will be no change to the school compound to achieve single-session, which means the school does not have to move to any temporary holding site to achieve this. The school cuts down the P1 intake numbers in the past few years to ensure sufficient space to transit to single-session.

As the year gets closer to the deadline set by MOE for all schools to go single-session, the probability of YZPS to go single-session gets higher.

Another thing are the books. A list was given to us of what are the books and folders we should bring on Day 2 and Day 3. But when she came back on Day 3 she said I did not put in the Chinese books. But those books were not written on the list. Today (Fri Day 4) I pack for her the Chinese Textbook and Workbook A/B which I did not give on Day 3 into her bag. Still she said I missed out another one. There isn't any list to tell me what books they want to collect.

Besides the chinese book my gal said I forgot to put some of the other books etc.....I am getting confused.

Am I supposed to put in all the books from the booklist into her bag and let the teachers take whatever books they want. What about the exercise books? Can someone share please?
For my gal, her form teacher did not ask the class to bring the Chinese Books for Day 2 and Day 3. So she just bring according to the list given.

4 Jan (Wed)
Health Education P1
Pupil's Folio and Activity Book for Social Studies 1
Stellar Handwriting 1
Report Book

5 Jan (Thu)
Maths Workbook 1A part 1 and part 2
Maths Tests 1
1 Red Ring File, 1 Yellow Ring File, 1 Blue Ring File and 1 Light Blue File

On 6 Jan, they were told to bring the following items to school next week:-

Chinese Textbook 1A and 1B
Chinese Activity Book 1A and 1B
Written Exercise Book for Chinese (the one with blank squares)

My gal is in P1 this year. I am pretty confused with the school dress code. Is it on PE days she will wear her PE attire? What about Wonderful Wednesday? When is the day she will wear her uniform? And Friday it's always 'house' attire?

Monday is School Uniform

Tuesday is PE Attire (because for Class 1B PE lesson is on this day, I guess different classes may be different)

Wednesday is PE Attire (because it is Wonderful Wednesday)

Thursday is School Uniform

Friday is House T-shirt (because it is Fun Friday)

To me, \"PE Attire\" means the \"School PE Attire\" and \"House T-shirt\" means \"House PE Attire\". Both can be used for sporting or exercise activities.

Hope this helps.
