Anyone going for SVPS after the results of phase 2A2 out? Care to share your view to go for SVPS or opt for those with less chance of balloting in phase 2B?

Worry there might be balloting for phase 2B in SVPS...what would your other choice be?

Hi,
If you are at phase 2b then depend on wat
are the choice you have within 1km. And depend are
you SC or PR?

If SC I will try ballot at phase 2b for sv if I am within 1km.
If is PR I will not take the risk as phase 2c might only have concord,
Teck whye, kranji for PR that doesnt require ballot. Unless u wan to ballot again in phase 2c.

Hi..I m SC within 1-2 km....hence quite worry...now already left with 12 only.
any advice?
base on previous yrs history there is balloting every yr for <1km and even with the new rule last yr, SC <1km still needed to ballot.. so there is a chance tt SC 1-2km may not even have the chance to ballot..

btw any one has any feedback for kranji, concord or teck whye pri? Can pls share.. Thk u πŸ™‚
Hi duckeroo,

My boy is in cckps this yr p1. Same as YTPS they doesn't have exam but
have mini test from term 2 onwards.

DLS I think there is ballot for 1 to 2km.

To go for sv anot is really depend are you prepare
to go for concord, teck whye, kranji Pri if ballot is not
Successful for sv? I ask this question to myself last yr.
I decide to give sv a miss and go cckps and get in without balloting.

Hi so how is your child in CCKPS? Is the school ok so far?

Hi,

My boy is enjoying his school. So far ok with the school.
Teachers are responsive to my question if I have. My boy
A bit scare when he just attend p1. The form teacher give him
Alot of encouragement now he loves to go school.

Btw the school have program to help on those weaker students
to catch up.
hi,

glad to hear your ds enjoys school πŸ™‚ btw do the school offer extra programs like music and art exposure/enrichment for primary 1 students as well?

oneheart:
With the new ruling giving priority to SG, there's better chance to ballot at SV. 2 of my neighbours took the risk and got a place in Ph2c last year.

And with SV restricting the no of PV, I think more places from Ph2b will flow to Ph2c.

But it the end...do assess your risk and strategize on 2nd options if you want to go thru the ballot.

My children are in SV, p3 and p1. The P1 is enjoying herself too much...holistic assessments, speech n drama etc.
hi,

can i check with you for sv do they have good art programme besides their academics? cos my dd loves art and will be good if school also offer exposure to art πŸ™‚

also is it true tt although the sch is moving to holding school next year, they will b having free shuttle bus services back to their current school premises?

• RE: Kumon - Discussion

I jus went to kumon today to find out bout their programme for my dd (5yr9mths)n ds (3yrs8mths). I intend to put both of them in the English programme.

However my ds is quite passive n although he understands simple English conversations/ instructions, he mostly would not reply in English & prefers conversing in Mandarin (due to caregiver's influence).

In addition, he is vy chatty with familiar people but his speech clarity is rather poor. Hence, many times only family members can understand what he is trying to say. This is also the main reason y he is passive as it really frustrates him when pple do not understand what he is trying to say so end up he woukd rather not speak.

Can someone pls advise given his weak background/ability in English & poor speech clarity would the kumon English programme help him or should I look at other programmes? Also if my 2 kids join the English programme at same time, would they b in the same classroom even if they r starting at different levels? Cos ds would definitely feel more secure if he has his sister in the same classroom. Dd is also a very gd translator for ds. In fact sometimes even I do not understand what my ds is saying but my dd would. πŸ˜‚

Btw, kumon fee restructuring will b in Sept 2013. Currently registration is $30 & mthly fee $120. After sept, registration will b at least $40 & mthly fee around $140. The centre manager told me final figure will b confirmed again later. Hope this info is helpful. thank u πŸ™‚

• RE: 2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take

hi everyone,

sorry for the long message but would really like some advice about my situation.

i have 2 kids, 1 girl and 1 boy. i am ex CHIJ (TP) student so i can register my girl for this school however i have a few concerns:

1) i stay at choa chu kang so the distance is very far. however my hubby will be able to drop her in school in the morning b4 he heads for work and i will be able to pick her up after school as i work at khatib. but is it worth the trouble to travel such long distance (30mins car ride in morn and about 50mins train ride home) daily especially for a young child??

2) i actually stay next to the top school in cck, South View Primary (SVPS). so should i jus take my chance to ballot at SVPS or should i go for the guaranteed spot at CHIJ (tpy)

also, i am a SC so will have the chance to ballot (<1km) for SVPS but if balloting fails (2012 phase2C: 103 applicants for 39 spots), it means my daughter will possibly end up in the least popular primary school in CCK.

my daughter knows her work but do not enjoy the process of studying. hence, i feel she needs a more competitive environment to give her the motivation to study.

3) lastly, i would need to go through the stressful process of Primary 1 Registration again for my son if i register my girl at CHIJ (TP). so should i just put my girl at a co-ed school now to save on all the trouble and stress?

thank you very much πŸ™‚
