Just wish to check r teachers still allowed to write testimonials for students? It’s seems that my dd’s school has a rule on not giving testimonials to the students. Thks

I understand that every school is different and does things differently but can anyone pls share for interviews, generally what to expect and what type of questions may come up for leadership domain?

Also, should we still prepare and bring along a simple portfolio with just the certificates, awards and testimonials even if the school did not ask for it?

Appreciate any help in this area cos not sure how and what to prepare for.

      Thank you vy much 😊

      Hi all,

Just seeking some advises. I have submitted DSA for DS under leadership domain.. he is holding 2 Captain post in swimming CCA & school's house-team. Have attained certs in leadership training in P5 & P6. Seemed that most parents are using sports or Maths/Sci subjects for DSA. Has anyone has success stories using leadership DSA?

As DS do not want swimming CCA in secondary school, he is looking into canoeing/dragon-boat as CCA.

Does the positioning of the 3 choices matters?
My dd is also a swimmer and applied for DSA under leadership domain cos she doesn't want to do swimming in sec sch. She also prefers to join canoe/dragon boat cca instead. Hence, 2 of her choices r schools with dragon boat as cca. :hi5:

Hmm...just want to know..if the schs are abt 1hr of travel time from home. Would u still try to apply dsa?
Yes. For my dd, all her choices are about an hr away base on google map and all 3 require at least 1 transfer eg train to bus or frm 1 bus to another bus. She also chose the 3 schools herself so she understands n accepts the added travelling time and transfers needed.
So far the sharing has been for the usual suspects - mainly the most popular of IP schools. In the west, schools such as Fuhua, Commonwealth, Bukit Panjang, Nan Hua, Fairfield, River Valley (another IP school) have good reputation too.

Anyone’s kid trying out DSA for these schools?

I included commonwealth in my dd's dsa choices but we r expecting to get rejected cos she did not do well in her SA1. But she really fell in love with the sch when we went for the open hse last yr so although she understands the chance is slim to almost none, she just wants to try her luck. 🙏

We did put 2 \"safer\" schools (cop 225-228) as the other choices & since there r not much info about dsa for these range of schools, we can only cross fingers and hope for the best. :xedfingers:

Good choice! At around 237, CWSS’ COP is reasonably high. Unlike some schools that have affiliated students, I don’t think CWSS has, which means that everyone is equally new to the environment and needs to make new friends (not so cliquish).

This school seems to have a niche in the Eng Lang. I think the current location was River Valley’s holding area. Is that permanent?

Anyway if you never try, you’ll never know. All the best!
:thankyou:

Anyway I the school is located at West Coast Road now. But I'm not too sure if they will be moving or not cis during the open house last yr, the Principal did not mention about moving to a different location. 😄

TBH, I think duckeroo daughter stand a very good chance for Commonwealth. Yes, Express COP may be a little high, but Commonwealth is not a popular DSA school. Hence, they may not have a big pool of applicants to choose from. Given that the school has NA / NT stream, they may be willing to take duckeroo daughter on.
That's good to know cos my ex colleague's dd was rejected by commonwealth for dsa last year under dance. Her sch got gold or distinction for SYF & she got called up for the interview but did not get a CO in the end.

Her dd's academic results are also much better than my dd's. Hence, I told my dd not to have too high hopes. Moreover, my dd is applying under leadership which is a very general domain.
