    • RE: Anchor Green Primary

My view on AGPS having sent my daughter there???

Very, very impressed by the principle! Humble and approachable. My kid looks forward to school each day. As a mother entering the school, am grateful for the level of discipline and warmth in the school…very good teacher-parent communication thus far… Not stressful i must say, so not sure about the level of academic performance as this is only the first PSLE year. Will see…but overall, a positive learning environment is evident.

My neigbour's kids r in anchor green. My neighbour told me that the Teachers r very involved. Kids r monitored on their progress. Those who need more help r given options of extra enrichment at school. Maybe it's a new school, that's why teachers r more involved. She mentioned dat comparing 2 her Kids former school in d neighbourhood before agps was set up...

      Congratulations!!!!!!! So happy for you!

      Papa:
Just received the letter from Anchor Green Primary School!! It's actually the carbon copy of the Application Form (yellow) we filled during registration at Phase 2C Supp last week. Signed off by the Principle, confirming that our child is successful in securing a place in their school Orientation on 21st November 9am.

      JSC,

The success of the kid ultimately depends on more than one factor. The school plays a part of it but not the whole. Just a word of encouragment, the principle use to be from white sands primary school...she had a history of building the school well...check out moe website on the psle results....you'll see white sands making it's mark even though it only started in year 2000. Then again, school is only one factor of a child's success.....

      empresskelkel,

Congrats on getting a place at Nanchiau.

i oso quite like North Vista and its one of my 4 shortlisted schools. Reason for shortlisting Nan Chiau and Compassvale is obvious & i m wthn 1km and reason for shortlisting Anchor Green and North Vista is i got to see the campus and did not hear negative things about these 2 schools, compared to the remaining other 3 schools in SK(exclude Rivervale as need balloting & i m 1-2km).

Only on the 3rd day of phase 2C about 4pm i was like mental block dunno to choose North Vista or Anchor Green after deciding to change my strategy to not risk balloting Nan Chiau or Compassvale. I was at North Vista filled up form but the last decision was Anchor Green being 1km should be nearer than North Vista 1-2km and also cant bear to forgo Anchor Green principal so i registered Anchor Green instead.

After cooling down, i felt tt logistics wise North Vista is in fact better bcos i stay near Seng Kang MRT so to go NV is one MRT away but to go Anchor Green is by bus, LRT or walk which actually takes more time. And NV reporting at 8am is oso good.

Think its fated. Comments such as so-so is better than negative ones.

      Hi,

Anchor Green 85 registered for 79 places for 2C supp and wthn 1km no need ballot? then i really wasted my chance of not balloting for NanChiau or Compassvale at phase 2C as i am wthn 1km from Anchor Green. I dared nor ballot seeing that 253 will be unsuccessful from the 3 schools tt need balloting and registered with Anchor Green straight away. Sigh that Compassvale is the nearest from my place 5-10 mins walk and Anchor Green need to take school bus :stupid: .

Sometimes really hate myself for being so conservative and think too much. Life is so unpredictable.

Just hope that Anchor Green is a good school.
Heard that they are building something for student care centre wthn the campus. Pending for vendors.

      Hi JSC,

Heee....you are not crazy, just 'kiasu\"...

      regards,

      JSC:
      Hi education,

I already changed strategy and registered at Anchor Green (see my post on 31Jul). Cannot take the pressure of balloting 2 times. We are not so lucky like last year where those not successful at 2C ballot will definitely get a place at Anchor Green or North Vista at 2C supp.

But i really envy u all who might get in to your first choice sch lor.

Now i hv registered with Anchor Green , i think of North Vista.
If i hv registered with North Vista i will think of Anchor Green. Am i crazy ? :?
Anchor Green seems more academically focused and North Vista seems more on whole child development. But reporting time of North Vista is good. Get to sleep a bit later.

      JSC

      Hi education,

Same strategy as me. Nan Chiau left 72 places. if i fail, will go AnchorGreen, hope no need ballot there at phase 2C supp.

BTW, what is Zhi Ying ?

      Rgds,
      JSC mum
      Hi JSC,

Zhi Ying is a chinese enrichment at hougang mall, top floor. You can check it out. Teacher is pretty \"on\". Called me personally and gave me directions on how to help my kid improve ... All the best in the ballot. Will you be there?

The week has arrived for me to apply for my kids pri 1 education. Trying out Nan Chiau and if not successful, Anchorgreen primary school. i am happy with both and would like to go with that order base on location. I am happy today for signing up my girl and boy at Zhi Ying, Hougang. Girl loved it and boy...not resistant. He's three anyway and a slow to warm up person.
