Well done OLGC!
HYPY workshop organised for parents was well executed!
Kudos to the presenter (Mrs Ng So Har) whose explanations in English were clear and concise. They even planned an activity for kids who accompanied the parents!! How wonderful is that!!!

RE: Marymount Convent
Electron is not a mummy of a MCS girl.
This morning, when I ‘tuned’ into the forum, MCS thread was top most on the list and so I accidentally selected the hyperlink and stumbled upon the posting from threefuchia.
Felt for her and so shared my 2 cents worth. -

Dear mummies and daddies
How time flies? It’s almost 3 weeks since our gals started school.
While the postings from parents from other schools has been coming fast and furious, hardly no one from OLGC. Wonder why?
Are our parents busy with work committments? Or do you have your own sms system with fellow parents?
Is no news, good news? -

Apologises all.
My reply was meant for threefuchsia. -

Dear Jesyeo
Emphathise with your situation. Not sure if you took a shot of the scratch marks.
I would have probably overreacted if I ever encountered such a situation but this is how my dh would have reacted. Here goes
1. calm dd down and get her to describe the whole incident.
2. clearly getting dd to decribe dd's part in the incident. (in case she had a part to play or if it was done accidentally during play that turned wrong)
3. advice dd on how she should react if it happens again (report to the teacher , prefect etc)
4. emphasize to dd that such behaviour is unaccceptable (just in case dd has thoughts about vengence
)
5. Call the FT to report the matter and leave the school to take action and get back to him on the follow-up action they have taken.
Hang in there friend. -
RE: What is the best way to teach 'more than and less than'?
Hi there
Have you tried converting the word statements to number statements?
For eg. ____ is 2 more than 5 can be written as _____ = 2 + 5
____ is 2 less than 5 can be written as _____ = 5 - 2
At P1 they have not learned about integers (negative numbers) so my DD
has taken to mean that you cannot subtract a big number like 5 from a small number like 2.
More eg. 5 is _____ more than 2 written as 5 = ______ + 2
6 is _____ less than 10 written as 6 = 10 - ______
Try examples with small numbers until they get the hang of it. Ultimately
it boils down to understanding the language usage.
Hope that helps. -
RE: P1 Chinese - General Discussion
Hi there
My child is in P1 this year. She is coping well because she learned
HYPY in K2. If your child’s kindy is not teaching HYPY, it might be advisable to enrol him in enrichment class, maybe during the June or Nov holidays. -
RE: CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel
Agreed, things moving rather slowly. Was getting a little worried when
my daughter returned from school a couple of times saying "school is so boring".
Yesterday, she came home exclaiming, "I finally have homework!"
Not sure if that’s a good sign or not.
Hubby and I have decided to observe and not question school’s action/inaction for the time being.
Any interesting sharings from your daughter?
