tx
should be good considering its a Band 1 school, Gold value added, given the school excellence award (highest award by MOE) and special mention made by PM at the national day rally speech too on religious tolerance, also eligible to start IP in 2013 but appealing to start in 2012 ... lots of info are in the sch website ...
Hi,

I'm interested to find out the daily activities at SJI. During morning assembly, is there any prayer session or anything related to religious activity that is compulsory? Thanks so much 🙂

There are prayers, at most u stand with them out of respect. They do not force u to follow.

But still my son dreads it...

Hi Millan,
Do they do this on a daily basis? Thanks 🙂

And does anyone know how long does it take to get there from Bedok?
Hi,

There should be no worries on the religious activites as judging from the artices mentioned at the link below:

http://sji.edu.sg/subpage.php?id=260

As for transport to SJI from Bedok, you can try to get to Jalan Eunos where there is 966/5 that goes by PIE to Jalan Toa Payoh (opp Trellis Towers), takes abt 10 mins as there are hardy any stops, from there can take 151/154/153/105 to SJI, another 10 mins as its just 2 stops away.

Hope this helps.

• RE: PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!

SJI got the School Excellence Award, highest award available by MOE.

Band 1 school for 2 years already. Nan Hua was Band 3 previously before becoming Band 1.

Special mention by PM Lee in the National Day Rally Speech for effective racial integration.

Financial Assistance available for even those who earn up to $7,200 per month.

My son got 245. Is Nan Hua High better than SJI?

Nan Hua is a sap school - can use hcl points.
SJI is independent school - school fees are steep.

----------------------------------------------------------------
30 October 2009

Dear parents, supporters, friends and fellow Josephians

SJI Integrated Programme (IP) Stream Proposal

As you are aware, SJI has submitted an IP stream proposal to MOE in June 2008. Under the proposal, SJI will offer a 6-year through-train programme for eligible students, in addition to the current O level stream.

In response to queries from many of you in the past few months on the status of the proposal, I would like to inform you that active discussions between MOE and SJI to sort out the details of the proposal are ongoing. This is necessary before the proposal can be approved for implementation by SJI.

In a recent letter to SJI, MOE has noted that SJI is a school with a long tradition and is committed to offering a high quality education to its boys. MOE also said that based on the profile of boys that SJI takes in, our proposed dual-track model, where both GCE ‘O’ levels and IP tracks are offered, is appropriate. I hope you appreciate that I am not at liberty to disclose anything more at this stage. I am, however, confident that SJI will be able to conclude the discussion with MOE latest by the middle of next year.

Thank you once again for your support for SJI.

Yours sincerely,

NOEL HON
CHAIRMAN
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
ST JOSEPH’S INSTITUTION
