I see a generation of commandos raised by parents who’ve not taught them humanity, whether Mindef or not. I know sounds like an unkind statement but we really need to teach our kids to empathize more, get into constructive action more & stay away fr holding that screen so much that there’s less 人情味 and ability to treasure each other’s existence. Life is so precious. To loose a 19-year-old even before he can go into working world to savor life is just so heartbreaking.
When we see someone in trouble fr heat loss, won’t we extend a helping hand to lift the guy up, bring him to shade or bring him precious water for drinking? Instead u see these commanders laughing & jeering by the side, like little kids playing pranks, except that this involves a precious life.
At least if u see the commandos tried & still fail, u know there’s still meaning to life amongst the platoon, all who must be going thro some form of trauma. Commandos shld be punished & a signal must be sent tt no such mindless negligence tolerated in future.

RE: Supermarkets in talks to charge for plastic bags
I do wash & reuse plastic containers esp to store cakes as giveaways of my bakes. I wld put my bakes into small tabao boxes in church & senior activity Centre to avoid cross contamination as oppose to having ppl in into a tray of bakes (I got extra careful after Covid to be careful).
True be told, such plastic hv it’s limitations for recycling, same as drinking PET bottles. These are plastic chemicals & leaching is expected after first few uses, more so when expose to sunlight or heat.
I will stop using for food receptacle after it’s 3rd recycling (no scientific basis for number of time for reuse), just to be sure. Thereafter, I’ve been using for growing herbs & plants. Hv now a batch growing in repurpose PET bottles for a gardening skills sharing event this coming Sept for outreach to the seniors.

Hahaha… My MIL surprised us! She went just when the sun was not as hot. She said she can’t wait to spend her new vouchers!
Someone else can collect for them: Alternatively, you may authorise a non-household member to claim your household vouchers. He or she should bring along the notification letter sent to your household, a completed Authorisation Form for CDC Vouchers 2024 (January) or Authorisation Form for CDC Vouchers 2024 (June) and necessary supporting documents (specified in the authorisation form) to the CC.

RE: Me Time!
They shld allow for elderlies to print their own hard copies w/o having to Q as their children can help them print at comfort of their home.
My MIL is one who prefers the hardcopies but she’s resistant to Q today as weather really can kill. She didn’t want to walk to CC. -

RE: All About Home Addresses

Technically, so long as you move within the successful balloting area of 1km, you can move any number of times within the 2 years, so long as you hv proof of residence in those addresses, but it must be your family. Your family be ready to be questioned & hv a reasonable answer.
Just to check, as my wife and my son will be out of Singapore for two months due to some emergency ( July and August )
Can I rent a bedroom within 1km of the school before primary school registration starts and I am the only person to stay there, if got balloted, I will rent another whole unit (same distance) when they come back, and that will be required to update an address again, does it allow?
If found to be untruthful, the consequences can be dire, resulting in yr being expelled & parents hv to face punishment. More imptly, the child cld be marred by the incidence. -

Where will they be staying? If they’re anywhere near MRT, they can take the train to & back to ChinaTown. There’s so much to do there with shopping, there are a few clans & the touristy Indian Temple. Lots of food you can list for them to try - ChinaTown Point, Hong Lim 抽粿条, Hokkien Prawn Noodles, etc or the Maxwell Food Centre just up fr the Maxwell MRT stn (Thomson-East Coast Line - TE 18).
I really don't know where to ask this, so asking here!
I have some friends passing through Sg at the end of July, and they would like to do some sightseeing, like a half-day city tour. Only thing is that they can only speak Mandarin, no English. I've looked at Klook and the tours seem to only be in English, and private tours with a Chinese-speaking guide will be too expensive. Anywhere else I could look? We prefer not to have to take them around ourselves during the days (all weekdays). We will take care of the evenings. They are not experienced travellers, and one of them can't walk too far.
I thought of the Hop-on Hop-off Bus - comments on this?
Ano possible F&E ride to Gardens by the Bay (TE 22) and they’ll not be lost easily with guides directing them within the gardens.
VivoCity/Harbourfront is ano possible place to spend half a day & if they’re challenged, it’ll be hard to incl Sentosa. Anyway, the beaches stinks of oil now, so might be necessary to skip.
If they’re into books, Bras Basah is ano train frdly destination, o’wise you can let them try our local libraries in the city.
I usually point tourist to incl Little India & Joo Chiat but it’ll be though for them to ask their way around I suppose.
Depending on their interests, there might be more you can suggest & guide them to easily find their way ard that’re near stns. I find Most of our stns hv Chinese-speaking staff who can give them directions.
