      pebblez:
      Just checked.

      2.45pm

      MGS
      38 vacancies
      <1km 24 SC registered
Rest are PR or outside 1 km

      Err, some slight correction

Saw from Notice Board at Concourse Area

      MGS Phase 2C as at 11am 31/July/2013

      Vacancies = 38
      No. Of applicants = 33
      within 1km=24
      between 1 - 2km=7
      outside 2km=2

It did not give any breakdown on SC or PR?
How did you know the 24 applicants (within 1km) are all SC and rest (outside 1km) are PR?

I was one of those who got balloted out in 2B MGS but eventually got in under 2C balloting. Towards the last few balls to be picked it was quite tensed, as both twins balls had not been picked. A better result would have been a twin ball being picked last, instead of second last, cos that would mean that the available number of places got increased by 1.. Anyway, I am just so relieved that after two rounds of balloting my daughter finally got into MGS! šŸ™‚

Congrats! :rahrah: See u on orientation day 17-Nov

Wow, the parents must be very relieved.

Seems there are many twins around.

Personally know of 2 sets of twins and 1 set of triplets.
MGS this year there were 2 pairs of twins but only 1 pair got balloted in

there's actually at least 8 blocks of HDB flats within 1 km of NYPS, but these flats are rarely for sale on the market , owners are keeping it for good.

These 8 Blks of HDB flats are located in prime CCR district 10. Surely owners are keeping for good. Look how much neighboring private apartment are going for $psf

MGS finished balloting at around 10:40am. Last drawn was a pair of twin and they occupy the last 2 remaining seats.

    • RE: 2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take

      nite:
      Hi,

My dd (2007 born) will be entering P1 in 2014. Looking at the 2007-born birth & new citizen stats and P1 registration this year, it is likely there will be more SC children vying for places in popular schools in 2014 & 2015. Even with the current policy favouring SC children in P2B and P2C, it seems just as hard with most of the places taken up at P1 to P2A2. Case in point, HPPS with only 40 paces for both P2B and P2C. Most of the popular schools are balloting for SC children living within 1km. Look at Rulang, 60 children vying for 10 vacancies. I find it disturbing that these parents have just wasted their chances at P2C with the expected low success rate.

I'm living in the Holland-Queenstown area. The only school within 1km is HPPS. What luck? At this rate, my dd's chances of entering HPPS looks slim. Even if RGPS will be within 1km when my dd starts P1 in 2014, balloting will be based on its current address at Hillcrest. I'll be outside of 2km based on the Hillcrest address. I'm not saying good & popular schools. I don't have any school within 1km except HPPS when it comes to balloting. Somehow, I find the P1 registration system is flawed with most of the places taken up grabs at the earlier phases because the SC policy kicks in only at P2B and P2C. Meaning if I'm staying at Tampines, at P2A1/2, my dd can get into HPPS if I'm an old student. Huh?

MOE should institute the distance and SC criteria for P1 through P2A2 as well.

As for me, at this rate my child's chances of entering HPPS look slim. Can parents here advise/recommend me on the good schools in the Clementi, Queenstown and Bukit Timah area where my dd stands a good chance of entering even if are residing outside of 2km?

      Thanks
Hi nite, New Town Primary School should be the next nearest primary school to your place.

Those staying <1km around SCGS are most likely to be >2km from SMPS
