Hi
My dd is weak in CL. Will be taking her psle next year.
I’m considering sending her to the above for cl compo writing class.
Can any parents share if the above centre quality and standard of teaching are good? Kindly share your experience or any comments you have heard about them cos I can’t afford to keep changing tuition for her in this crucial year.
Alternatively, do you have good recommendations? Only prefer tutors who are proficient in psle with good track records.
Thanks & god bless.

MathGeniusLab - Discussion
Hi
Have any parents enrolled their kids to maths genius lab for maths tuition? The founder claimed to be ex-sch teacher and has produced many A* psle kids this year with his effective strategies taught. They have 2 branches, one at marine parade, the other at bishan.
Kindly share if you have any experience or comments about them.
Thanks -

RE: 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Dear psle kids
Congrads, your exam is finally over. I’m sure you have done well. My ds will be in P6 next year. Do u have any good sci tutor/tuition centre to recom? Must be proficient in psle and can produce A* or high A kind.
Can I have feedback on the following ctr?
Mrs sim - perceptum
Mr & Mrs chai - newton apple/sci heuristic
Mr Chong - starscape at balmoral plaza
Jason -edventure
Hope you can share with me if you have attended any of those listed above if their qly of teaching is good, with notes, worksheets, experiments & etc. feel free to recom others if deem good.
For those who find this year psle science easy, can you share with me how you have prepared so well for it cos I heard this year’s questions are very tricky and integrate concepts across diff topics. Does route learning ie memorise, drill, practice and doing tons of exam papers help? Or attending tuition centre with lots of experiments help u to understand and remember concepts better?
You may pm if you wish. Hope to hear your advice cos my ds is not strong in her studies. Sign.
Thanks alot. -
RE: 2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Dear psle kids’ mums
Can anyone of you kindly recommend a good sci tuition centre or home tutor who is proficient in psle, can get A* or high A kind? My girl is in P5 now. I heard this year’s psle is very tricky and more challenging compared to previous years. Route learning, memorising, drill & practice & doing tons of exam papers may not help. Understanding & integrating different concepts is a must now to do well. So seems that sci tuition centre has a better edge compared to home tuition. I’m considering one of the following>
Mr chong from starscape at balmoral plaza
Mrs sim from perceptum
Jason from edventure
Mr chai/Mrs chai from newton apple or sci heuristic
If you have sent your kids to attend any of the above, kindly share your experience with me. You may also wish to pm me. My girl is not strong in Maths, so I hope she can do well for Sci.
Thank you so much. -
Feng Hua Language Study Centre - Discussion
Hi
Has any mum sent your kids to the above? Any feedback?
They only have one branch in bukit timah, near coronation plaza. Though they do not advertise or have any website, their students did very well for psle. Most of them are from top schs like nanyang, RGS & MGS & etc. Visited the centre and saw their testimonials. However, the place is quite run down. The materials seem good. I got to chit chat with a boy who was waiting for his parents and he told me that he travels from his home in hougang to this ctr for cl tuition.
They have tuition even up to JC level.
Kindly share with me on your experience with the centre, esp with regards to psle.
Thanks & god bless. -
RE: Advice needed - PSLE 251 (+1), still can try for RV?
Hi ironmanpapa
You should put your child’s dream sch as 1st choice (short of few score eg 3-5 score) followed by the 2nd preferred sch (short of 1 or 2 score) & etc. The more diff to get in schs with higher cop should be ranked 1st. Eg 1st choice MGS, 2nd choice Cedar, 3rd choice cresent. But make sure that for the rest of the schs your child will definitely be able to get in ie her t-score is higher than their cop. Otherwise moe will post her to a nearby neighbourhood sch. So, if cedar is her most favourite sch, then put it as 1st choice if t-score is quite close. If another kid of higher t-score put cedar as her last choice, she will still get in first. Even after posting result is out, you can still appeal for transfer/admission. You still have to report to the sch she is posted and then go to the general office of cedar and submit your application. The sch may consider if there is vacancy due to withdrawal or absent overseas students and if your girl has some talents eg cca achievement, music, leadership qly and etc. Once you are successful, you then withdraw from the sch she is posted to.
Hope it helps. -
RE: Girls school advice for 233 score
I prefer paya lebar methodist, or chij toa payoh.
Why don’t you consider xinmin, tanjong katong sec or presbetarian high, chung cheng co-ed schs. They are gd too. Don’t worri about cop. Put your child’s dream schs as top 3 choices. But make sure the rest must be those she can get in. Otherwise, moe will post you to a nearby neighbourhood sch. -

Hi
Has anyone sent your kids for diagnostic test and cognitive training programmes at thinkerbox? They advertise on ksp website. The fee is very expensive. Can share with me whether it is beneficial to underperforming students.
