      KPFan:

My gal was disappointed to hear from the principal on reporting day that they won't be moving to the new campus. She felt that the present campus looks 'sleepy' and was looking forward to the new school. What about your daughters?

      Hi KPFan,

I'm going to be a Year 1 Girl next year. Yes, I was disappointed that the Principal had told us that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the facilities of the new campus during our time in RGS as a student. šŸ˜ž In the RGS website, it had been stated that the new campus would be moved-into in 2018, and thus I had had hope that we would at least be able to spend one year of our time in the new campus, because the current campus is a bit old and the thought of being the first batch to move into the new campus was really exciting.

I have one unclear thought, though. In Mrs Poh Mun See's speech, she had said that we would only be moving to the new campus in 2019, and she had said that the parents need not worry that their daughters' studies will be disrupted during the move to the new campus. Perhaps she thinks that the parents don't want their daughters to move campus, and has thus extended the construction period by one year? O.o I don't know if I'm thinking too deeply about this, but perhaps if Mrs Poh mentions this thought again, I can try to politely let her know that most of the Girls would like to experience the new campus before moving to Raffles Junior College. We'll just see how everything turns out.

There is also the possibility that she is stating 2019 as an overestimated figure so that the parents will not expect the Girls to be able to move to the new campus at all, and then she'll be able to surprise us if the construction and fund-raising turns out to be completed by 2018? šŸ˜„ I dunno. It's a far-fetched idea, but a girl can hope. šŸ˜‰

      ~ Nikinack

Alternatively, U can join selected CCA which trains in the \"New\" Campus every wk to \"Enjoy\" the existing facilities šŸ˜‰

      Happy Mama:
Can I ask if most of you are getting the Mac book Air or Pro?

I was earlier very confirmed that I'm getting the 256GB Air cos of the design and lightweight. However, this morning DD's Pri school classmates who are also joining RGS (close to 10 of them) told her they are all taking Pro.

Now I'm so confused. Is Pro really so much better than Air?

      Thanks.
Hi HAppy Mama, Great to have your Gal joining the RGS Family! :rahrah: :rahrah:

Just happen to read thru the thread, with some rgs parents having similar query on MacBook Pro & MacBook Air. So sharing with other Year 1 parents.

My Gal started with a MacBook Pro, coz wanna have bigger screen, and all the added stuff. But after her bag was stolen (she kept her macbook in the sch bag šŸ˜ž in early year 2, while we were in JB for a day trip, after sch) she opted for a MacBook Air.

      Reason? Much Lighter!
Coz she's the one who has to lug it around to sch and back home everyday, as she started taking public transport to sch in year 2.

It serves her well thus far, so a MacBook Air is sufficient for their sch work use. Unless your gal wanted to do a lot of Animated or 3d rendering related stuffs, not really necessary to get a Macbook Pro.
That few hundred grammes in wt does count when one has to lug the sch bag ard, Unless ....

U wanna train up your gal's Muscles! šŸ˜‰
