    • RE: 2020 Secondary Schools' COPs for 2021 Intake - Discussion

If you aren’t sure whether you should or not appeal, call the school and clarify all your questions now.

Check the school website for the deadline of appeal applications.
By the way, I see no harm to appeal anyway.
      All the best.

Hi, is 260 for PSLE enough for Hwa Chong? Thanks!

I hope this year cut off to Hwa Chong is similar to last year...

hi, i think this year the COP at HCI may move slightly higher but this is just my take.
I am basing this on a lower COP last year and a higher top 10% T Score this year.
However, the actual COP is ultimately affected by the actual supply and demand of this cohort.
All the best to your son and I hope he gets into his dream school.

A parent is even asking if the COP is known at this stage. This goes to show that some parents are seeking for answers or assurance from experienced parents in this forum.

      I like zeal_mummy’s clarifications. Thanks.

This is not a thread in Recess so no matter how obvious the answers may seem to many of us who already had experience in the process, I hope we can try not to joke about their questions.

      Thanks.

Maybe this year will be a special year where results will be announced online and parents login for their child’s result via SingPass 😜

      Nope

      https://www.moe.gov.sg/news/press-releases/arrangements-for-the-release-of-results-for-the-2020-national-examinations

      7. This year, SEAB has enhanced its systems so that all candidates will also be able to view their examination results online on the day of the respective results release. This can be done via SEAB's results release system on its website (http://www.seab.gov.sg).

      5. As PSLE candidates, given their younger age, might need more support, one parent/guardian will be allowed to accompany his/her child/ward to school to collect their results. The parents/guardians would need to wait at the designated common areas in the schools and observe the SMMs implemented, while their child/ward receives the results in the classroom. For the collection of GCE-level examination results, only school candidates will be allowed entry into school premises.

Hang on.... are we still going on about the maths paper 😳😳😡?!! Please drop it n move....🤦[/quote]
Pretty much agree with you tat parents and students should move on since what’s done cannot be undone and focus on preparing for Science.

However having said that, this is an open forum where everyone is welcome to write what they like, responsibility and hopefully informatively. So, if the contents of some posts bother you then may I suggest you refrain from reading this thread until after the exam.

      Atb to all PSLE kids.

      Cheers.

Thanks! Yes will probably be posting in the schools’ threads to ask more. Recognise the schs are different. At this moment, we have reasons for choosing either school, both has their pros and cons.

Most important on my mind would probably be about how is the emphasis on character development in these 2 schs.
An example of character development would be that the girls at NYGh are required to bow and greet teachers and parents. Practically you could observe them at the bus stop during dismissal. Surely, girls from both schools are groomed to become fine ladies or “Kim Gek” - a term used on SCGS alumnus.
Academic aside, I find the pick up and drop off traffic much easier at NYGH than SCGS.
      Congrats on a happy problem.

My DD received COs for NYGH and SCGS. We were caught by surprise with NYGH’s offer.

This is going to be a tough decision. Though everyone we spoke to told us to go for NYGH, we recognise that SCGS has its merits too.

We hope that any parents with experience about the 2 schools can share with us. I have read through both the schools’ threads in the networking section.

Of cos ultimately the choice lies with our DD. But we hope to have as much info as we can so that we discuss with her after PSLE so that whatever the decision, it will be an informed one.
      Hi,
The decision shouldn’t be too difficult. One emphasizes more on Chinese traditions and culture than the other on the Secondary school level.
Scgs will join CHS and ST Nicks in Eunoia JC while Nygh joins the boys opposite the road at HCI.

Congratulations to those who got CO from NUSH!

PLS read my friend's experience! It really helps future parents!
My friend kid's ambition is want to be a scientist.
So they visited NUSH open house from primary 3 onwards to get to know more about the school. But they never coached their kid for Olympiads from kindergarten to get Gold or Silver.
The kid is very smart in all the 4 subjects in primary school(always 1 st in school) & participated all the Olympiads (never get gold or silver) , Robotic completions(gold), Debate competition, speech competitions & spelling bee competitions. Further more the kid is the president of the student council & emcee of the all school programmes.
They applied DSA for NUSH without much hope, because they know that they never coached their kid for Olympiads. But they asked to submit portfolio & called for the interview. In interview they said that they were impressed with the kid\"s portfolio & asked that which other school the kid applied for DSA. Finally, they gave a much hope to the kid to asked this question \"if the three school you have applied for DSA offer CO, which school will be your first choice?\"

So they had full of hope & looking forward to the CO from NUSH. COUNTING THE DAYS.............

Finally they received the email that your DSA was unsuccessful!. The kid is completely broken down just 4 weeks before the PSLE.

PLS THINK BEFORE YOU APPLY DSA!

Last year also one of my friend kid was success fully go through all the exam, camp & interview. They got rejcted mail. The same kid got admission afer he got 270 in PSLE.

This experiences will help to the parents in future.
Very good piece of advice. Parents gotta manage their own and their kid’s expectations. Dsa offer is a bonus not an entitlement.

@coolnurse has been quite enthusiastic and supportive to all in this thread. Thank her for her positivity.

Genuine educators read this forum so she would be doing her dd a discredit by posting falsehood about her dd’s credentials.

That administrator_kiasuparent is likely a case of sour grapes. 😅
