      I'm sure those who wanted to know already know but EJC appears to have done quite well this year? Next year (2021 A Level) will include the JAE kids that entered with Science = 7 / Arts = 8 JAE COP (to the extent this matters at all). Continue to watch...

      Change 2019 to 2020:
      Cohort Size: 610 --> 591
      Median: 83 --> 85
      UAS 85+: 40% --> 50%
      UAS 90: 11% --> 13%
      3H2 Distinction: 33.33% --> 40%

      *2018 Stats (first year of A Level): Cohort Size = 529, Mean = 85, 3H2 Distinction = 50%

      https://eunoiajc.moe.edu.sg/2020-results/
      3 IP sec schs form the bulk of cohort 2020, so results quite well.

      compare Ejc to the top schools ,this may show up as an area of relative weakness as most of Ejcian students would’ve taken 3 H2 subjects and not 4 H2 with 1-2 H3 subjects.

      1. Who are you to judge what top tier is? (And what do you mean by top-tier?) (How do you classify?)
      2. Who are you to say what a heartland JC is? (What then do you mean by \"heartland\"? What indicators are you using?)

      Top tier = elite.
      Heartland = may be good but certainly not considered elite.

      Sadly, it's a fact that Nyjc grads won't get that 'wow! you're from top jc' kind of compliment or recognition when they are in uni, unlike those from elite jcs with long history such as ri, hci, njc or vjc.

      Stetan:
      Agreed. Even in the workplace, it is viewed as what you have said.

      Stetan, ParkYuni
      Dont have such Elitist mindset and behavior.
      Must hear 'wow' from others about yr JC to get recognition?

      One doesnt need to be in IPJC inorder to achieve good results.
      Nyjc though not IPJC , its Mean Rank Point is reported ranging from 83.1(by a forummer, reliable source as claimed) , is quite comparable to some IPJCs.

      For Humanities it also did very well if you know the statistics as you claimed. The main core humanities subject like Lit is >75% dist so 8 out of 10 score distinction (as some P like to use this kind of data presentation). For hist, it has the best achievement with >70% dist, is on par and if not better than ri. For geog, it is > 50% dist but this result is only second to ri as compared with other ipjc. For hci, no way to include them in the comparison as i do not hv their data for humanities. So no need to selectively picked on a particular subject to comment. So i hope we are all clear now. I seriously think its meaningless to compare in this way but i also feel you are doing ejc a diservice by highlighting on their weaker dist rate subject and disregard on their strong subjects. So i need to make sure the whole picture on ejc is correct.

      I did mention in my much earlier post on 2/3 that Humanities did well but hv to work on Econ plus other subjects...
      Looking at its RP, it students population is quite widely varied and prone towards to left.

      If EJC can work on its Sciences more and CSC , with its IP students calibre, Im sure it will do \"very well\".
      Ah, it did very well for Arts -80% A.

      Thanks for letting me know. Indeed, amid all the petty squabblings, we have overlooked an important achievement shared by Ah Ma---EJC's 80% distinctions for Arts/Humanities. It is indeed commendable.

      :congrats:

      Sorry, wasnt clear enough. I meant the subject, Art. Not the Humanities subject.

      Yes, COP indicates popularity. Why popular? Can be many reasons but students' confidence, good review of that JC.
      Nyjc doesnt need to be that league like Lexus.
      You sound elitist just like Floppy who said Combined Sci students will be on lower end of graph n IPJC hv fewer 70s scorers.

      Why is Kia car popular ? It is value for money, it delivers reasonable performance, it does not incur high servicing fees.
      A JC can be popular for many reasons too.

      If you are implying that COP determines whether a JC is top tier, then you are sorely wrong.

      Im glad you understand
      a JC can be popular for many reasons. Thats what I Said.
      But students wont just choose a JC for 1 reason. Academics and culture are impt to them.
      If its just pure proximity, if JC is not worth going, words spread and slowly that JC will not be chosen by students.

      What words spread around? That NYJC is a top tier JC? Nah. Maybe spreading in your head, definitely not around the public

      Whats your defination of top tier JC?
      Top Tier as its an IPJC with various Programmes like Humanities Prog etc then Nyjc is not. Njc is then.

      You are beginning to get it.

      To help you further...think about this - what make a top tier actress ? Is it solely her acting ability ?

      There are thosands of actresses that can act well. Why are they not considered top-tier ?[/quote]To be top tier actress, of course you need to act well FIRST. Then come others.
      You do understand that
      There are actresses who act well, persevere and eventually get recognise. They dont need to be top tier but are A List actresses.
      So dont think non IPJC cannot be same tier group as IPJC though dont have special programmes.

      You havent answered whats top tier JC yet?

      COP of a JC does tell something abt that JC.Its not just proximity reason. Students this era know what they choose in a JC- many reasons but academics is 1 of them.

      COP of a JC just indicates the popularity of the JC. Kia cars are extremely popular but does that mean it is in the same league as Lexus?
