I understand from my neighbor that Unisim and SIM is not the same Uni.Unisim is similar to NTU,NUS and SMU so it is better than private.Anyone can feedback?

They are not similar. But they are better than private. In my opinion, you should rank the universities in Singapore as such:

1. NUS/NTU/SMU/Yale-NUS/SUTD
2. UniSIM/SIT
3. SIMGE/PSB
4. everything else

UniSIM and SIT are govt-backed. Means fees are cheaper and degrees are valued by the govt. They also have a higher quality standard to meet, unlike private universities. However, they are very newly recognised. And, they have little to non-existent research faculty. They are almost unheard of outside Singapore and the degrees will carry very little weight. SUTD and Yale-NUS might also be new. But they have a very strong research faculty and are tied to even bigger names. Yale for Yale-NUS and MIT for SUTD. So they should be seen as on par with the big 3. Understand that SIT also partners with overseas university, but none of them comes close to Yale or MIT, or even NUS.

Actually it is the PT instructors job to make sure the recruits have a proper warm up but then how many really bother ?

They do bother. The PTs are very professional. Some of them are even ex-national sportsmen. One of my PT was a boxer that represented Sg. From warm-up to cool down there are always lots of eyes on the recruits to make sure they do it. Eventually in command school the cadets lead the warm up on their own and do it very seriously. They don't mess around. When they say that the army is regimented they really mean it.

Hi, Dear friends, any suggestions for application of Mathematics Subject in UK University?

1)\tMy son wants to study Mathematics in Oxford/Imperial College/UCL/LSE, Further Math is required, however, no further math is offered in Singapore A Level, is there chance to enter such universities without further math?
2)\tAny other suggestions for application?

Thank you very much.
We have H3 Math that can replace further math. In fact, I think H3 math is of an even higher standard than Further math. In any case, the new syllabus according to SEAB also has H2 Further Math now. So there is H2 Math, H2 Further Math and H3 Math. H3 being the toughest of all.

so m I right to say

mainly left with Medicine, Law & dentistry still waiting for NUS reply?
If that is the case, I guessed due to the dates of interview n test
my son was in camp n could only apply close to closing date so I m not surprise at all
anyway, his smu interview n test was just 2 weeks ago n for NUS his test n interview will only be next week due to resheduled date
That is not the case. Acceptance and rejections are usually given out in batches. From my experience, there were people still getting accepted by the local universities all the way in end-June.

I didn't expect DDD/C. Is that still the situation now?
They are trying to attract more top local students into engineering. New scholarships and higher salaries in public service just started this year. So it would take some time for it to take effect. But even then, most of these top students go for the best engineering courses, namely NTU REP and Aerospace. The other normal courses like EEE, mech, civil are still quite unpopular amongst locals. Engineering is really difficult and the pay-off is not high. As compared to biz where the content is not as hard and the pay-off is much more.

For the IGP, you realise that they only publish the 10th percentile grade of admitted applicants. This means that 10% of the students actually got in below this 10th percentile. And since engineering cohorts are quite big, this 10% is actually quite significant.
From what we know of and see for ourselves, NTU have alot of a common nationality(free schorlarship type) I shall not mention here where they come from.

Yes NUS will always be the best choice due to global ranking
But when NUS is not an option
SMU will be the next available option based on one's choices
However, we do get some negative feedback fm NUS students who had graduated
At the end of it One have to bear the consequences of the decision made, NO u turn πŸ˜„

That's only because NTU's engineering school is the biggest. And these foreign nationals are only taken in to fill up the gaps in engineering. If you are not in those courses, you probably won't see them in class at all.

\"Fill in the gaps\"? What gaps? Our locals don't want to take up Engg?
Bingo. My sibling actually got into NTU Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a DDD/C only 2 years ago. No outstanding awards or CCA achievements. Not through NAA or DA either. The entry for locals into engineering right now are actually very low. Lower than what most people would think.

Accountancy graduates are in higher demand than business and economics graduates due to the market demand and supply forces. The local uni are currently not producing enough to fill the market demands. While the top jobs of accountancy fresh graduates can be above $7k-8k or even above $10k, the vast majority still get $3k-$4k only.
Im not sure where you are getting such info. But I don't think what you've said is true. The SMU graduate employment survey clearly shows that Econs and Biz students are earning way more than their accountancy peers at both the median and the 75th percentile. This is also true for both NUS and NTU. Not only that, both SIT and Unisim are producing their own Accountancy grads. I believe for both schools, their first batch of accountancy grads only graduates this year or next year. They will be filling up whatever 'gap' there is in the accountancy field.

Top jobs for engineers can also go that high. Its not unlikely. But the vast majority seems to get 3k or less according to the graduate employment surveys.

• RE: MRT train killed 2

The result will be the same as SGH Hep C case. They will tell you that the management will be "disciplined" and "warned" and just move on. If SGH case 8 deaths no heads roll, what makes you think 2 deaths here anything will happen?

• RE: All About Universities

It really depends on the course. If wanna compare must compare in the narrower sense. Biz vs biz, Psych vs Psych etc. Some courses are better at NTU than at NUS. You really have to look quite deep into it.

It also depends on the specialisation and concentrations that one intends to do. This will be dependant on the faculty members of the division. If you want to research on a particular issue but you have no suitable professors that specialise in that area, then you won’t be able to. Fields such as pol science, psych, sociology and philosophy are extremely broad!! So its not possible to compare FASS vs HASS. Neither universities can claim that their entire faculty actually covers ALL sub-fields and are experts in them. So it really boils down even to the particular sub-field you are interested in. I chose NTU specifically because they poached really good, up and coming professors in a sub-field I am interested in. Although NUS does offer modules in this sub-field, their professors are not well-known and their papers are not as well-cited. Also, NTU is a direct major unlike FASS. So it really depends on what you want out of your degree. NTU has much closer student-prof interaction IMO. Undergrads can also start research with their profs with the URECA programme. I feel its well-suited for those academic overachievers who are looking towards a career in academia. But its really up to the individual and what he wants out of his degree.
