RE: All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

My boy is 5 years old this year. He will be taking part in P1 registration next year for 2016 Pri 1 intake. I've applied to be hongwen PV for my boy. Just received letter from Hongwen that I'm rejected as PV with no reason given but to try under phase 2c next year. I'm lost as to what to do. Any advice? Should I appeal to Hongwen School?
Yes appeal -

Hi,
My child is born in 2011, I have to start applying to PV next yr right?? YR 2015 when the child turns 4??
For me, Alexandra Pri Sch is within 1km whilst Radin Mas and River Valley are 1-2km for me -
how high are the chances of getting into PV for Radin Mas vs River Valley?? and I heard getting into PV need not guarantee anything even if u clock the necessary hrs - why is this so?? is it cos of balloting only or due to other factors in the registration system???
My hubby is more worried and says I better volunteer at APS even though I'm within 1km (though i've not heard of PV in APS yet) cos by the time my girl is due to register for P1, I might face more competition and my best chances are only with APS by distance and we all know APS already did balloting in phase 2c in its first year of P1 registration.
If anyone can advise, really which sch is worth volunteering for (in terms of increasing chances of getting in), I would greatly appreciate it. We might not have info for APS but is RVPS voluteering scheme tougher than RMPS? Or is RVPS PV more popular (i.e. competitive) than RMPS or the other way round? I just want to make sure I am able to increase my chance for more than 1 sch, to play safe, instead of pin all my hopes in APS..cos nothing is guaranteed..and i dont want surprises last min...
I would advise APS as the P and the VP are from good schools previously. Its new so not so much hype about it yet. So, its better to secure a chance there than risk it at Radin Mas orrrr you van PV at both! -

Unfortunately, Fairfield no open house. They are usually oversubscribed too..... so perhaps may not see a need to have open house?
Ya, I guess. -
RE: [Queenstown] Primary Schools
Not every school has open house right? Cos, I dun recall Fairfield having one.
It's quite disappointing to see that most sch ballot for <1km. Leaving no chance for those leaving further away.
Some people are lucky to have a few schools to choose from within 2km while some have none even within 1km (read from some ksp posts). So is this a case of poor estate planning by lumping a few schools so close to each other? :?
I would think so. Cos for me, I have 3 schools within 1km and another 3 within 1- 2km, total 6 schools to choose from. Though non are the so called branded schools except for 2, I can't ask for more.
12 mum, where do u live? I am so curious
