less kiasu liao:Bbee:Hi, could anyone advise what's the difference between Express Math and IP Math?
I will very much like to know too. Not just for Maths, but for the other subjects.
So far, schools seem to be saying that tuition and assessment books are not advisable as IP is different from O levels. Dd's CL tuition has said that every school uses different things and advises only tuition for compo. Although I do know of students from top schools going for tuition (wonder how their tutors know what to teach). But I also came across a JC Maths teacher who declined to tutor a Y5 IP student because he said IP was different.
I mean, how and where do we get help if our children have difficulty with the IP course, apart from transferring them back to the O levels? What is the source of their difficulty?
Hi, Im speaking in regards of the IP curriculum in RV, so im not very sure if other schools have another way of teaching. In RV, our Year 1 Maths is basically \"Integrated\" and can jump from the Year 1 content in the MOE textbook to the Year 2 content when learning the same topic. Similarly, Year 2 content can also jump to Year 3 sometimes.
When moving on the Year 3, where most schools have the choice of taking E Maths or Additional Maths (A Maths), RV combined the two maths together. Students don't normally know which kind of maths they are taking actually cause it's totally combined. Therefore, I think it will be hard to find tuition teachers as they will not know what content were being covered in school in school as the Year 3s and 4s just learn Maths as a whole. Besides, finding teaching materials can also be quite hard for them as RV uses their own notes (you can almost don't buy the textbooks) and occasionally make some reference to only a few assessment books for a certain topic.
i think other subjects are still relatively easy to find tuition though, such as the languages subjects.

hope this helps!
