Hi,
May I know how many subjects RI 1st year students must take / expected to take? What is the norm?
I know the 2020 booklist listed the following:
English literature, Maths, History, Science, Geography, and a list of various MT/HML.
How does all these really work? 5 cores and some other subjects?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it must feel bad with such a close miss... However, all is not lost yet. Although you do not have the 'block' 6-years of ESIS, there is still a chance to get the ESIS!!!
According to MOE Website, it stated:
\"These scholarships are awarded in Secondary 1, Secondary 3, Pre-University 1 and on a yearly basis:\"
This is the link:
https://beta.moe.gov.sg/fees-assistance-awards-scholarships/awards-scholarships/edusave-scholarships-independent/
Under the section on \"ESIS (Yearly award)\", it stated:
\"Students in the top 10% of their school cohort by level will receive an ESIS for based on their school examination results for the year. Students will be informed of their ESIS award through their schools at the beginning of the next academic year.\"
Use that to encourage your child of the second chance and the need to be less careless in exams!!!

Hello, like glenax posted, http://nanhuapri.moe.edu.sg/departments/gep/our-programme is open to the TAG population only (TAG1 MS, TAG2&3 GEP). TAG children will be given a diagnostic test (EL-CL translation) to determine their eligibility. The program was conducted outside of curriculum hours (in our time), like an enrichment module. Through it, the children could be asked to take part in national competitions (for instance, http://nanhuapri.moe.edu.sg/qql/slot/u732/Others/E-Notification/P1/Nan%20Hua%20Pri%20newsletter%20final_151116.pdf). Yang Fengyi-laoshi (GEP HCL) is approachable - he may be able to answer your queries?
Hi sky minecrafter and glenax, thanks for the quick replies! Basically, I just need a rough feel of what it is about, not to disturb the teacher too much...
the newsletter is very useful!
It would be great if parents can also share their child's experience on this. Thanks again! -

Offered, but not much info from teacher on the details, so just wanted to see if anyone knows more or has child in it, especially P5 or P6 who can share some insights... Thanks!
Hi i saw on the school website that it is only meant for the GEP and Tag class kids, meaning those on the higher tier of academic results, so I suggest you dont worry about it unless you are offered that option and if you do, enquire with the relevant teacher for it?J2018:
Hi,
Does anyone have more info on what exactly the NanHua Bilingual Elective Programme (BEP) is about? How is it conducted (e.g. as a separate lesson outside the usual school lesson? Does it modify the current class lesson in anyway)? What additional things do they do and learn there? What advantage is there to be in this, e.g. advantageous to go to certain secondary school?
Also, if your child happened to be in the programme, how does your child find it?
All I know is that it starts in P4S2 and ends in P6S1.
Thanks in advance for the help as I just couldn't find any additional info on the details. -
