yes dorisp. all within 1km. it is oversubscribed already for 54 places. hence balloting will be conducted for within 1km.

and in case you are wondering,they are all SC. PRs won't get a chance till all SCs (even beyond 2km) get in.

I told a frd, a PR staying just behind acsj, even the SC staying in Jurong will get in before her son. So dont bother. please go try other schools.

yesterday when I went to fetch my girl at scgs. it was drizzling and i witnessed how a mum nagged and scolded the guard (Not in his face).


I was standing at the guard post. I could hear her "cursing" and scolding, as she walks from the zebra crossing to the guard post. She was talking to her p5 or 6 daughter: "the guard so dumb-headed, there are so many school buses, why didn’t hold the zebra crossing and let you cross? So stupid. the guard so stupid so dumb headed."

My p3 girl who was behind this mom heard everything, managed to squeeze past her and ran to me.

the first thing she did was to whisper to me "mom, did you hear that? the mommy can’t stop scolding the guard, when it is not his fault. she scolded him dumb. why did she do that? and her daughter is listening to all the rubbish. she is setting such a bad example for her girl."

i hope we dont step on toes of girls of such p1mummy or the zebra crossing mum. hopefully the kids are not influenced too.

And for scgs drivers out there or soon to be (next yr). let’s be more considerate. when we drive to pick our kids up, pls queue closer to the car in front. I often see big gaps betwn cars and usually re female drivers. we cause a huge jam all the time and i wish we could set a better e.g. for our kids. a little consideration will make it a better place for everyone else.

I don't know maybe website includes pr? But I doubt so.

For twins,

Option 1: you get only one balloting slip but with both names on it. If picked, both will get in.

Option 2: you get 2 balloting slips, each with the name of one of the twins. ONLY the slip that got picked will get a place in the school. The other twin will have to apply at a different school at a later phase.

yes, i recall hearing the announcement before the balloting, (when my girl registered in scgs then now p3). the parents were given a choice to take either option 1 or 2. and the twins parents chose option 1. i think for logistics and sanity reasons. the twins got drawn in and took up one extra space. I remember the parents in the room went \"awwww\".

the other day at acsj registration (2b) i also heard staff answering a set of parents
their question. they have an option to have double the chance (2 slips) but if drawn only 1 is in, in the event of balloting.

Just so curious who is the blessed one who got the lottery seat 21 other parents badly want. Hope is one of the parents frm this forum.

I didn't hear of the 3monthly test. But I think my friend's girl did it in end Jan. Or beg of Feb.
It is important to stay tuned.

remember my previous post on 20 jul afternoon. initial update: 40 within 1km (38 SC 2 PR) this number eventually increased to 43 within 1km and 11 1-2km. at end of registration. Hence 43+11 = 54 seats. but! 1of the 43 is a PR. (42 SC 1 PR). Hence that seat has to be taken out for out of 2km to ballot.

Honestly that was the question some parents were asking previously, why are the 2 PR (initially, 1 must have withdrawn knowing his chances) get to keep their seats. and sch also announced no balloting required. I was puzzled but too relieved to think much then.

The staff has confirmed that the 1 PR place has to be given out for the lottery draw.

To be fair to those angry parents who genuinely stayed within 1km, didn't get in (balloted out due to luck) and lashing out to those \"cheaters\" who got in, I don't think they are being ungracious. Anyone in that position would really feel terrible. Yes, if it is a fair playing field and you got balloted out, fine it's just your luck. Accept it and move on.


But if there are cheaters in the system who got the place through unethical and lack of integrity behaviour. Do you still think that is alright??? Should we be gracious to accept these \"cheaters\" as they are just so desperate? I actually sympathise with those parents who were affected by the cheaters because I personally came across a couple of cheaters. I think it doesn't feel good for me to know they are doing that but I don't think I will go to the extreme of reporting them.

To clarify, I am talking about popular schools in general. I think we wre lucky that kids went to my alma mater so there was no P1 registration stress to speak of. But I've been monitoring this P1 registration thingy for couple of years.

I saw how friends change their address at the last minute to some relative's house that is within 1km of a popular school. Kid got in. But is that ethical and fair to those genuinely living within 1km ? No.

I also saw how friends bought a place near a popular school but rent it out. Used the address for priority registration and kids got in. Is that fair to those genuinely living within 1km ? No.

I also heard of friends who rented a place near the school. They terminated their lease after kids got in. Was there any intention to cheat in the first place??? Yes.

So pls don't misunderstand this as hatred as just want to share what parents do to resort to get their kids in. This is real. I personally believe in justice and fairness, so I feel that more control should be put in place by MOE to ensure that it deters parents from becoming a cheater.

I cried after reading your post. I agreed with you with all your points. I really pray for God's favour upon my daughter who has been praying to get in SCGS for a long time. Each time, our car passes by the school, she mentioned it is her future school. I must be prepared to overcome the fierce storm, which you quoted \"let's show our kids what it is to 'come what may, we are ready to face the storm'\". I will be registering my daughter in SCGS under phase 2C within 1 km if our registration under 2B (one of the GEP schools and is a distance from home) is unsuccessful on this Wednesday. I was too nervous contributing to this forum, making myself useful i forgot i wanted to tell you all this too.

I know of someone who also moved within 1km. And the child didn't get balloted in. It wasn't easy, to be staying across the street, seeing other kids wearing the school uniform but not your kid.

Hence the child enrolled in another school, but we kept track on the admission test. it was announced on the website. And the child went for the test and got in.
somewhere in Feb.

So all is not over. Like my friend who had the upper hand, within 1km, has 2ticket vs 1ticket for PR (i heard many PR got in that yr. but is their luck, what can we say?)

She went a big round. but her child eventually got in.

Everything happens for a reason. i believe. For me, now i have a chance to brag to my girl, how much sacrifice i have made. the sudden revelation at 3am, to decide to move within 1km for the sch. and the heart attack balloting process. I beg her to please stay in the sch. dont get kicked out and waste my efforts i have put in for her and of cos for my granddaughter as well! haha
