RE: DSA 2021
:thankyou: Actually my son treats music as a hobby as he enjoys it very much. Its more of the passion rather than taking part in competitions. He loves performing to his family and friends, teachers and school mates in school. He views music as bringing joy to others. Everytime when he comes back from school, he will find solace in music. Music makes him feel more relaxed and destress after hectic school work. It helps to relax and soothes his mind for a while. I believe that the secondary school he finally chooses will definitely be able to hone and bring his musicianship skills thru greater heights and I am sure by then they will be able to groom him by exposing him with competitions, masterclasses, workshops etc..
All in all, I strongly believe that music is to be enjoyed. No use forcing a kid to learn music and go thru rigorous trainings or competitions and competitions if the kid has no interest.Swc\" post_id=\"2036821\" time=\"1630984753\" user_id=\"178585:

Hi, I would say my son is very passionate in music and is born with the perfect pitch ability which I think contributed greatly to his music development. With this ability, he is able to pick up any musical instruments or learn new music pieces fast without much effort. As we noticed he is musical, we enrolled him for music classes since 4 years old. He was then identified to be gifted in music after passing several rounds of audition and was selected to be in the music gifted class which focuses on Composition, Performing as well as On-the-spot motif improvisations. He is now pursuing his Teachers Grade. Apart from that, he has many experience for composing and performing. He has composed quite a number of compositions and was selected to be performed annually at ticketed public events. He is proficient in 3 instruments, the piano, electone and the cello. For the cello, he took it up only in school CCA (Chinese Orchestra) in P3 and he has passed his Grade 6 with Distinction. I guessed maybe his piano music background helped him to learn the instrument without much effort. Apart from this, he is also actively involved in contributing greatly to the school's music scene since P3 by performing in many of his school's performances such as Teachers Day, Prize giving day, Recitals, etc.. as his primary school teachers saw his interest in music and hence gave him the opportunities to perform. He did not take part in any prestigious international or local competitions nor win any medals or awards for music. I guessed music just came easy and naturally to him and the interviewers from all 3 schools which he applied for saw his deep interest and passion.

BIG CONGRATS!! :rahrah: :rahrah:
May I check your ds's porfolio / qualifications?
Just out of curiosity, given his obvious talent, any reason he has never tried for competitions like National Piano & Violin Competition?[/quote] -
