Went to SCGS to ask for breakdown of <1km and 1-2km. No answer was given. Not sure why they are so secretive about the numbers.

It is a difficult balancing act by MOE and schools.
I think it is fair not to reveal the breakdown for the sake of current 38 applicants who are eyeing the 37 places.

      For example , assume f the breakdown is SC with-in 1 KM is 20 , SC 1-2 KM - 10, & SC more than 2KM - 8. If the breakdown is available,
What will happen if 5 PR and 5 SC from with-in 1 KM apply? The original 38 applicants believe SCGS is a good school and it is value system. They were unfairly disadvantaged.

Disagree. Most parents who have registered would also want to know as they wouldn’t wish to waste their 2C chance if they knew the odds were against them, and would have withdrawn and applied elsewhere before the end of the Phase.
Exactly :hi5: !!!

Is not a first come first serve system wo?? Shouldn’t the 1-2km have priority over the >2km? That’s how the current system is isn’t it?? Just becos you want to be “fair” to the >2km then give up the 1-2km that also think the school is good but with a weaker heart?!

Yes, in fact my gal in P3 no longer do HMT this year by default. They will only be offered HMT in P4 based on your MT result in P3.

HC is only offered in P5/6. In order to qualify for HC, students must get Band 1 for ALL subjects at the end of P4.

Prior to this however, students in P3/4 are banded for Chinese during subject time, with the better students sorted into 2 classes, 2 classes with kids of average scores, and 1 class of kids that need extra help. The top 2 classes are not officially HC as they all use the same textbook, but they will have more characters for 听写, and they will also have 默写.
