I am replying the question posed by Dazzydancers.
I think once you are in the school, it is the kid attitude and effort besides the talent that makes the significant difference.
There will always be a struggle esp if you are in a smart school so it is important for the kid to have a good mindset. Psle is just one of the early milestones but it is the end of the education journey that makes a difference.

If you have a co and you accepted the offer in Oct, then you need to pass PSLE with minimum of 200 score as this is for express stream.

I think the boarding period is shorter because of the reduced subsidy. It used to be 10% but now only 50%.
I think there is also theft among the youths. From what I hear from my kid, some other kids have no qualms about taking food that belongs to others. -

Both methods are applicable but for branching method is easier to do and faster to get the answer. Model method is used to teach primary kids as they could not understand algebra at their age.

Whether to go to SASS is really up to your kid at the end of the day. He has to do well to go to better schools. My son did not want to go back to SASS, though I was sad as I had been an active PV and believe in continuing the Saints tradition.
