Does anyone know what is TTLT program? Are they for the top % kids? Only for p4? Thanks.

Below is an extract from PH website:

Math TTLT
P4 and P5 students who show keen interests and higher ability in Mathematics are selected for TTLT (Thinkers Today Leaders Tomorrow) program to further develop their interests and ability for Mathematics.

English TTLT
The Thinkers Today, Leaders Tomorrow (TTLT) programme is designed to challenge high ability (HA) learners. This special programme engages pupils and ensures that their interests are catered to and that their abilities are stretched. Our mission is not just to teach them how to fish but to make them yearn for the sea.

There were some earlier posts that discussed TTLT:

Hi joyfulhands,

Can you send me some photos of the list that was given out on the orientation day? And what about the briefing for P1 parents? What time is it?Can you give us some details? We asked school admin and they said there is no briefing whatsoever for parents or any list given out on orientation day. I really don't know who should I look for in order to get hold more info about P1 school opening.

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Do remember to pin the name tag on your daughter's uniform, and indicate the pickup location eg back gate, bus number etc. Btw there is a list of books & other things to bring on day 1, 2 & 3, which is given out during orientation day. Other than that, there should be a P2 buddy to guide your daughter around in school. There's also a briefing for P1 parents on day 1.

A correction. The list of items to bring was not given out on orientation day but mailed to parents together with the letter dated 29 Sep in an A4 envelope. That list is called Annex G. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh dear, we've yet to receive the letter till now!

My DD going P2 next year - is it not automatically for them to move up to the same class for P2 ?
Yes, same class for P1 & P2.

Hi dyh,

Thank you once again. But I wonder if the form teacher will release the pupils on the first day of school at main gate or backgate? šŸ™‚ is there anymore things we need to take note on the first day of school for P1? Thanks so much for your help.

The school will release pupils from both gates even on the first day.

You may want to give your child some pocket money for recess. Other than that, I don't think there is anything special to take note of.
šŸ˜„

Sorry to sound so stupid here. May I know how do we inform the form teacher about which gate to release the child since we don't get to see the form teacher at all. Thanks and sorry to bother you again.
Do remember to pin the name tag on your daughter's uniform, and indicate the pickup location eg back gate, bus number etc. Btw there is a list of books & other things to bring on day 1, 2 & 3, which is given out during orientation day. • RE: Q&A - P3 Math
Hi all

anyone has the solution to this?

Tricia gave 5 sweets to each of her friends and had 3 left. If Tricia had given 6 sweets each, she would be short of 4. How many sweets does Tricia have?

Algebraic solution is not accepted as this is a P3 question šŸ˜ž

Detailed answer:

http://i58.tinypic.com/au9x1z.jpg\">

If Tricia were to give 5 sweets each:
Total sweets Tricia has actually = some groups of 5 sweets + 3 sweets
First model diagram shows this.

If Tricia were to give 6 sweets each:
Total sweets Tricia has actually = some groups of 6 sweets – 4 sweets
Second model diagram shows this. Note that the 4 sweets less Tricia actually has if she wants to give each friend 6 sweets is shown with the red coloured box at the right end.

We can re-arrange the 6 sweets into groups of 5+1 sweets as shown in the third model.
1 sweet from each friend if moved to the end of the bar diagram should make up (3+4=7) sweets.

Therefore Tricia has 7 friends,
Total sweets Tricia has = 7 groups of 5 + 3 = 7 x 5 + 3 = 38

Hope you can help explain to your child!

I find it hard to explain this in model to my child, but i don't think the teacher can mark the child wrong, if the child do in an \"algebraic\" method.
My child was taught this method:

If Tricia gave 5 sweets to each friend, she has 3 left.

No. of friends_Sweets given to friends__R.__Total
1 ___________1x5=5_________________3___5+3=8
2 ___________2x5=10________________3___10+3=13
3 ___________3x5=15________________3___15+3=18
4 ___________4x5=20________________3___20+3=23
5 ___________5x5=25________________3___25+3=28
6 ___________6x5=30________________3___30+3=33
7 ___________7x5=35________________3___35+3=38*

If Tricia gave 6 sweets to each friend, she is short of 4.

No of friends__Sweets given to friends_Short of__Total
1____________1x6=6________________4________6-4=2
2____________2x6=12_______________4________12-4=8
3____________3x6=18_______________4________18-4=14
4____________4x6=24_______________4________24-4=20
5____________5x6=30_______________4________30-4=26
6____________6x6=36_______________4________36-4=32
7____________6x7=42_______________4________42-4=38*

Therefore, Tricia has 38 sweets.

Frankly I find this method very tedious, but it's pretty straight-forward such that my P3 child can understand.

• RE: GEP 2014 - Screening & Selection

iRabbit:
I've always wondered if it's a good idea for GEB to broadly indicate in which categories (e.g. 0-0.5%, 0.5-1%, 1-1.5%) our kids are in (based on selection test results) so that we can make better informed decisions.

Let's say junior is in the 1st category, then I'll say, 'Mai tu liao, chiong lah!' šŸ˜†

But if he's in the last category, mabbe I'll think twice, thrice ... then say 'Thank you very much, but no thanks!' :censored:
You mean something like this...

(1) Congrats! Your child is within the top 0.5% category. He/she is the genius we want! So quickly accept our offer now. Mai tu liao!

(2) Congrats! Your child is within the top 0.5% to 1% category. He/she could be the genius we are looking for. You are given 3 working days to accept our offer. Hope to hear from you soon!

(3) Congrats! Your child is within the top 1% to 1.5% category. We are not sure if he/she is a genius, but anyway he/she passed the GEP test! Here is the offer, take it or leave it.

:rotflmao:
Now, I must seriously declare the above is all made-up. Just to relieve the built-up stress of parents & children during this waiting period.
:siam:

Btw, my child belongs to the >1.5% category, if you were to ask.
