Well…I guess other than the P/VP of SCGS, someone at MOE HQ may also know the number of AL8 in previous SCGS IP intake…
But even if we know the numbers, we still need to know where the balloting occur. Did all AL8 ( 1st choice) got in and the balloting only occur at AL8 (2nd choice)? If we add in citizenship priority into the equation, will even be more complex. There is simply too much information that we don’t know…not to mention COP is not fixed and may change this year…
So just put SCGS IP as first choice and hope for the best lah!

The number of AL4 students in my girl's primary school is about the same this year and last year. The AL4 last year ( now sec one) came back for their PSLE awards, and the P announced the names of all the AL4 this year during results day. About the same numbers.
Just curious if there are any stats from schools regarding number of AL4/5 this year compared to previous years . Saw a couple of comments that this year’s PSLE was easier -
RE: Third languages
Spanish is also an option for third language from 2014, although not reflected in this poll.
I am letting my P6 girl decide which third language she wants to do. I asked her to do her own research, thinking that she will choose Japanese. ( My older sec three girl is taking Japanese for third language, and all my kids are very into anime/manga)
To my surprise, she choses Spanish. Reason - she googled and find out that many people in America speak Spanish.

I remember reading somewhere else in this forum that AL8 is a very large group. Someone mentioned that SJI ( boy school but also COP8) has more than 10 boys with AL8 balloted out last year.
Out first choice is SCGS as well with AL8. All the best to us
Anyone has info on roughly how many students with AL8 got into SCGS IP? Just curious.
So are you going to put SCGS O level as second choice? Or will you put another IP school? -

My older girl is in NYGH sec three. I highly recommend the school. My girl ends at 5:00pm for CCA days ( twice per week) and 6:45pm ( once a week) for third language day. Most school program can be paid by Edusave. There are also all sorts of financial help available.
Hello parents, total newbie here to find out information and opinions, and thanks in advance to hear from anyone.
We are Singaporeans and live in the extreme west. For the two months, we were only hoping our child could get into RVHS with her prelim results and location as the main considerations. Then my child had pulled off the unthinkable and gotten AL4M, and the general opinion we got from surrounding friends was it would be a pity not to go RGS or NYGHS.
The thought of her joining NYGHS is extremely alluring but the distance remains the biggest barrier. And we like to find out more pros and cons from both NYGHS and RVHS.
Several questions we have for now below:
1. We have heard more great things about NYGHS' teachers (in forums especially), and would like to find out more about teachers in RVHS, how students fare under them, etc.
2. How the two schools fare in terms of campuses, facilities. We do understand it's hard to draw definitive comparisons between the two.
3. School hours for both school are about the same. The biggest worry remains on how often and late the students stay back after school hours; which of the two invest more in after school activities and CCAs.
4. We would like to find out more about the third language offering, how intense it gets, and the drop out rate, etc.
5. We aren't financially well-off, even with the possibility of scholarship, we do worry about money when it comes to other programme fees in independent schools like NYGHS. Is that the case for NYGHS, or both?
I wish my younger girl ( PSLE this year) did well enough for NYGH! She got AL8D which is not bad but sadly not good enough to join her jie jie... -

Thanks for all the replies!
Any reason didn't consider cedar girl ip? I have a niece from there and highly recommended to us..
Our first choice is SCGS IP. For second choice, Cedar Girl IP COP is 8, Dunman is 8M ( again provided the COP don't change this year). So my girl may be balloted out for Cedar but for Dunman, her 8D would ensure a place for her.
3rd and 4th choice - both are COP 9 schools as safety net.
( but now you guys mentioned...maybe I should change my 3rd choice to Cedar....it is not as far as TJC/RV...)
