To be fair, Dunman High is not strong in sports and parents are aware that the school favours academic performance more than sports performance.
I agree that networking plays a part. But it’s more like between 2 similar students, the one with better network might be favoured. It’s not a case where the weaker player is chosen.

RE: Junior Sports Academies
Hi, may I seek your advice on the considerations in choosing the JSA sports modules? My child likes quite a few sports within one bucket so I want to help him choose. I heard certain sports have a lot of kids and coaches cannot pay much attention to each (like badminton). Is it true?
Also, he likes Table Tennis but isn’t it too late to pick it up and show potential?
Thanks in advance! -

Single digit is good enough, as most outstanding kids are already in the IP/IB programme and unlikely to DSA.
for Sec 4 O level students who have applied for DSA (Leadership) domain into RI (Raffles Institution) first year JC,
the number of COs offered for this domain, is ...
single digit
https://www.ri.edu.sg/admissions/year-5-admissions/year-5-direct-school-admission
CO : Confirmed Offer
Do you have an idea if it’s below or above, say 5?
My child is considering DSA Leadership to RI Y5.
Thank you! -

This was asked a few pages before. You can read others’ view on this.
Does anyone have a sense whether RI’s WL is easier to be converted to CO or HCI’s WL? -
RE: DSA 2023
If you look that the cut off point tables every year, there are a lot of students with AL4-5 who chose to join neighbourhood schools, some down below the ranking table. They are not the majority but it’s not rare either.

I thought PSLE is more stressful, that’s why parents and students go for DSA. 😄
It's ok. At least there`s a closure. parents and child can move on. much less stressful to enter via the psle route.
I find DSA not stressful but exciting, like watching a football match, you don’t know what will happen, and have to wait patiently.
But PSLE is different. Once the results are out, it’s settled. There’s nothing to anticipate if the grade somehow cannot cut it.
