I can imagine the trouble. We use to send our 3 yr old to nearby childcare and and i believe it or not, he gets sick every 3 weeks. Imagine parents have 2-3 kids, children takes turn to get sick. That means, parents like ourselves have take off days every 2-3 weeks.

How often does your children get sick in Childcare?
Lets limit the poll to those 2 -> 6 yrs of age staying in registered childcare and not nannies. Wanted to get the feel if all parents have the same issue that faced. Which happen to include monthly visit to Childcare...:)

RE: 2008 P1 Registration Exercise for 2009 In-Take
From my experience, those living < 1Km of Henry park, will have much higher chances in 2C. This year, all the children that got in 2C are reported to be within 1KM. Ultimately, it depends on the number of children that applied, if there is a whole lot more application < 1KM, then likelihood to be balloting.
For 2C, if you registered based on Statutory declaration with grand parents addr, then I have to say it is just waste of time. Henry park upfront tells you that they treat these as 1-2KM. So, virtually "Zero" chance. Sorry to pour cold water on this subject as it is the reality with these so call popular school. -

The news of 2C balloting is out. Congrates to all the parents who manage to get their children to the school of their choice. For those who arein balloting, this means more stress of waiting and frustration.

RE: All About Measuring Home-School Distance
I wouldnt take too seriously abt what you get from non-official websites to MOE. The schools and MOE takes their map seriously and only accepts anything and everything from SLA. If SLA says, Jurong is less than 1KM from Central, they will abide to it like the rocks! We had the scenario that my blk were within 1km but SLA maps says it is 1-2KM. They, "the schools and MOE", says take your case with SLA. They will only take what SLA says despite they knowing that it is that near and within the 1KM circle.
We don’t like it either but we were fixed up by SLA and their maps. Trust my words, but you are better off paying for SLA maps. It cost only $2. So skip your lunch and just pay for it if you want something that is accurate and accepted.
As for me, we decided that we had enough with schools that they are too good for children and parents. They held their opinion against logic and common sense. We held our heads high and went for the schools that welcomed us. Gan Eng Seng Primary, here we come.
Just my 2 cents… -

Wow!, who would ever guess that registering kids to SG schools can be so interesting. Wish I have one every year to try out different registrations
Damn, its so competitive out there... even from primary schools.
Oh, well. At least I am glad that I found a good environment for my kids to go to school.
