      Hi furfur,

Selection of subject combination is only applicable in Y3 and Y5(JC1). CHS offers only Pure Sciences. Students can take triple Science in Y3 and Y4 so long as they are interested and have performed relatively well in the Y2 exams. According to MOE regulations, students can only take either Chem and Phy or Chem and Bio combinations in JC (including IPJC) but not all 3 Sciences. They can choose to take double Math in JC ( H2 Math and Further Math ) if they have the interest and aptitude for it.

First of all, a warm welcome to the CHS Family πŸ˜„

So far there's no dress-down day. In fact, the boys are required to bring along their school uniform to change into after their PE lessons. And so yes, I would say that it would be good to have at least 3 sets of school uniform and perhaps 3 sets of PE shirts/shorts as well in view of PE twice a week and CCAs.

      Hi

May I know if anyone has the link to Parents Bulletin Term 2? I couldn't locate it in the website.

Separately, I remember there is a CHarts event on coming a Thursday, do we need tickets for this?

      Thanks & regards

Not sure about the ticketing though. Maybe you can call up the general office to ask.

Hi, my ds, currently in sec1, has been offered to go to εŽεΊ†η for acc. Though he has expressed interest, I am not sure if i shld let him do it as he is already struggling his other core subjects. Can anyone share with me what this programme entails? Thanks!

My kid has never been called up for εŽεΊ†η, so I can only share from what I know.
I gather that these boys will be asked to help organise Chinese-related activities in school as well as participate in inter-school competitions such as εŽζ–‡ε€§ζ―”ζ‹Όγ€‚ Sometimes they may also attend activities from other schools or εŽζ–‡δΌšι¦†γ€‚
Since your child is selected, why not give it a try? He will probably enjoy it if he has a genuine interest in Chinese πŸ˜„
Since he is only in Sec 1, not to worry too much about him not coping. Just monitor his progress, Moreover, CHS has Bicultural Studies Programme (BSP) from Sec 3. By involving in these activities, he will probably have a good feel if he wants to take up the programme ( which is geared towards the study of Chinese culture ) when given the chance to do so upon obtaining good EL & CL grades at end of sec 2.

Catholic High School (CHS) clinched their first national boys' B Division softball title by beating defending champions Raffles Institution (RI) at Kallang Diamonds field yesterday.

In what was a rematch of last year's final, CHS avenged for their previous defeat with a display of sheer grit to win 3-1.

RI took the lead in the first inning, and the score remained at 1-0 until the third inning in a closely contested affair.

But, once CHS levelled the score, the tide started to turn, as they stunned the Rafflesians by scoring two more points in the fourth inning to seal the win... ...

They were facing the eight-time defending champions Raffles Institution (RI), who had denied them the Schools National B Division boys' softball title for the past three years.

Yesterday at the Kallang Softball Field, Catholic High School (CHS) finally broke RI's dominance, as they clinched their first B Division title after beating their rivals 3-1.

Drenched in sweat but grinning from ear-to-ear, the CHS players hollered their school name as they lifted the long-awaited trophy... ...

A side question. Since NYJC students are not from the IP schools, and apart from affiliated Chung Cheng High, what schools did the students of NYJC come from?

From more than 80 schools and some winning formulae of nyjc: late start at 8.30am, unusual subject combinations offered & alumni help spread the word. None on A level performance though.

      Sorry :offtopic:

Think the 8.30 am school start hours is a great idea. Why make the students wake up so early?
I have great admiration for NYJC as it does not have IP, or very strong affiliated secondary schools, to make it among the top ranks.[/quote] :spam: Please put this discussion in Nanyang JC thread. Thank you.
