Sounds like a warm and pleasant environment!!
Let yr DS knows Aunty here telling him not to feel boys fr ACS family are different coz they’re same as any other boys elsewhere - they can be studious & nerdy & can be naughty and rumbustious, just as there are kind, caring & thotful ones that are taught to respect others. After their 1st year, boys fr outside of family will alr be assimilated as part of the ACS blood. The sch motto says “The Best is yet to Be” & if the boys feel difficult to assimilate, then the sch wld hv failed to bring out the best in your DS! 加油! 💪🏻
My son is already looking forward to meeting new friends~
Thank you once again Esteema :)) :rahrah: -

I’ve shared in the past & on other threads abt 2 CCAs @ ACSI.
IMO, there’s a lot of plus points esp for our young growing teen boys. I believe there is a meaningful purpose in doing at least one uniform group as they will provide discipline & exposure to leadership. The other CCA is opened for yr boy’s choice.
Over the years, I’ve recognized setting young fellas, with growing hormones to handle 2 CCAs actually help them with time mgt indeed & learn to juggle academics with activities ard the school.
It is better to hv our boys busy with constructive activities then overdose themselves on screen with too much idle time. The other thing I feel is that it helps parents to let go & know that they’re at least safe on school grounds then loiter at home or neigbourhood. I don’t mean parents can completely not be interested & followup on what our boys are up to. S’times, they do need our help if they’re coerced during team projects. They can always approach the sch staff for guidance too.
Actually, with 2 CCAs, there’s hardly time left for tuition. Mine completely do w/o tuition except for HCL. Saves me lids 💵. They learn more independently & I can see mine got more conscious of maximizing spare time to learn new things & acquire knowledge as he got more curious for deeper u’stand’g. I hv on occasions to tone his hours onscreen as they’ve been given some interesting online learning. During CB, mine was practically watching this professor giving interesting lectures that made me glued to his lectures too!
Now & then when I asked mine if he needs tutors help for this or that subj, he’ll lob back a “no need”. So long as he’s not failing or showing signs of distress, I’ll just let him decide for himself.
Lastly, just to share, though not all boys max out but there are some who wld take 3-5 CCAs after they start Yr 5 as they’re free to do so esp when they’re not required to do uniform CCA fr Yr 5 on. Think they crash it out in Yr 5 then tone down for Yr 6 IB exams prep.
Hope abv not too heavy for u to digest.
Yr boy is going on Yr 1. Do let him enjoy his honeymoon year as he builds his own momentum after searching his footing amongst his peers.
Wow thank you for those inputs 👍 .
Great point there keeping the child occupied with school activities rather than hogging on the computer.. maybe I’m just feeling jittery / kiasu cos I’m not sure what to expect and we are not familiar with the ACSI culture .. (not from the ACS pri)
I guess it will all fall in place nicely when school starts .. Least I know there’s a support group here :rahrah: ..
Appreciate all the kind advice Esteema ~ -

Thank you!! I think he is definitely looking forward ! Only concern is managing double CCAs and his school work :nailbite:
You’re most welcome! Hope yr young man enjoy ACSI & excel in his areas of interests both studies, CCAs & flex him brain, physical & emotional muscles & grow to a wonderful gentleman.
But I am sure that will teach him to better multi-task and have better time management.. haha
I wonder how the senior boys cope! Please teach me a couple of tips...recommended tuition...etc.

Sure! Thank you for the advice Esteema
You can get same house PE attire.
Number of sets of uniform depends on yr laundry capabilities at home.
I wld advise getting uniforms only fr BIBI Baba as the other supplier tied to the bookshop do stock uniforms but quality far short. Many parents complain of fraying threads & shirts not bright white but dull whites. So, you decide.

RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Hi Parents,
My son got into ACSI via DSA and I am thinking of getting the school uniforms early since we will be travelling.
Can anyone advise if the sec 1 students mostly wear PE attire? Any particular school house?
Would only 1-2 sets of uniforms be enough then ? In case he outgrows it.
And if the Bibi and Baba shop is the only one that sells ACSI uniforms?
Thank you in advance! -

Very useful info for returning Singaporeans with school children
Do you mind sharing which DSA Talent Area your son applied?

Oh what's the difference with point 1 and 2?
:congrats: to both (Kim2010 and her child)
Is it all right if I ask, your child's CO received, is it
1) from an IB Secondary school,
like say, (MGS / SJI / ACSI / SOTA / Singapore Sports school ) ?
or
2) from an IP-A-level destination bound 6 years' Secondary school ?
or
3) from an O-level destination bound 4 years' Secondary school ?
Thank you, for clarification
Is it not all IP schools lead to IB eventually?
