However waitlist offer usually happens after 24 May (after double offer student make decision). Waitlist offer is not guaranteed, unless the child prepares to take gap year or go oversea or ns, the child should consider accept the best 2nd choice offer first while waiting for med waitlist offer.
What if there is a scholarship offered for the second choice but child is waiting for results of the waitlist? Does this typically mean the child should not accept the scholarship for second choice?

According to my dd, not many received double offer this year. Many received either nus or ntu. According to previous few yrs discussion, waitlist convert seem moving slow therefore do prepare for the worst and move forward. Waitlist offer usually start from end May till mid/end July.
So far no one is able to work up the numbers. It wasn't make known.
-

When NUS/NTU med offer to waitlist student, usually need to reply within few days (like eg 2-3 days time), pls check email regularly. When your child accept the offer, usually they need to fill in the course & uni that they already accepted early. Uni admission office will do arrangement according. Pls read the offer letter and instruction clearly.
Did anyone still remember from an earlier thread that someone mentioned that either you will be offered medicine or dentistry and not both? Well, it's possible to be offered both choices.
If you are being put on medicine waitlist from NUS and NTU, and being offered a second course on your option, please do an acceptance first to reserve the course - in case if not being offered after waitlist deadline.
Since the 2nd option being offered was from dentistry NUS, then if you are offered by NUS medicine after waitlist, you have to do an acceptance on the NUS portal and the other 2nd choice accepted earlier will be superseded. I believe an email will be sent to you explaining this.
As for NTU medicine waitlist - if you are being offered, just write an email to notify NUS admin that you would like to decline the dentistry course.
Likewise if NUS medicine didn't offer you the medicine after waitlist but NTU did, then do an acceptance for NTU and email NUS admin to decline your acceptance of the dentistry course.
Usually they will inform you the waitlist before the matriculation deadline so that enough time is given for you to do the acceptance and decision to decline.
Congratulations! for getting into dentistry and all the best for the medicine waitlist.
-

You need to select and accept one offer by 24 May. Waitlist for NUS will start to offer after 24 May or after nus receive rejection from student. WL may not get offer, it is subject to availability. After you receive offer from NUS (converted from WL) and decide to switch over from NTU to NUS, just follow NUS guideline, it is easy.
My DS got into NTU, NUS is in waiting list. DS want NUS, NTU need to accept by 24th May 2021, if my DS get into NUS, can we still reject the NTU after accepting, what will be the best way, any advise. -

Hi Desmond,Kiwi3\" post_id=\"1987143\" time=\"1595401514\" user_id=\"104354:
Hi! Kiwi3,
Hi,
I have a query quite similar to Seya’s in my mind also.
For my DD's case. After being put on waitlist by LKCMedicine, she went on to accept SMU's Double Degree in Accountancy & Business under LKCSP (ie. her 1st choice course in SMU) instead of NTU's Double Degree in Accountancy & Business (ie. her 2nd choice course in NTU after LKCMedicine) and NUS's BBA (Acc) programme (ie. her 2nd choice course in NUS after YLLMedicine).
In fact, she preferred NTU's Double Degree in Accountancy & Business to SMU’s version but decided to go for the latter due to the LKCSP scholarship offered by SMU.
Fortunately, after few weeks of wait she finally gotten her LKCMedicine waitlist conversion notice. We are all very happy with the outcome. But in retrospect, we cannot help to wonder if the outcome would the same if my DD were to accept NTU's Double Degree in Accountancy & Business instead of SMU’s version.
We had discussed and reviewed this entire situation with some people and few shared this “hypothesis”:
Assuming all admission offices have full access to the joint admission portal and have clear picture of the prevailing selection status of students, an admission office of a University will have less “urge” to “poach” a student who has already accepted an offer from another faulty of her own University. That being said, there is a likelihood and does make logical sense that they would rather “steal” talents from other competing Universities. Assuming the above hypothesis is true, could this be one contributing factor that favoured my DD’s bid?
There are many contributimg factors in play. Medicine is a very popular course and the places for each intake is so tight for the two Schools respectively. I believed it was your DD's good academics inclination and abilities that got her the offer from NTU LKCSoM wait-lists. Don't think your DD's offer was based on \"pouching.\"
All the universities here have promoted their Schools so attractively and hope to woo students prior to acceptance for the School of their choice to join them. For those exceptionally good students, they will dangle some carrots to entice them over to their School. It is all up to all these students to decide as they were spoilt for choice. I believe that they were not \"pouched\" but had based on their performances.
Thank you for your objective and comprehensive info and insights.
You have been very supportive to this group feeding us fellow “Kiasu” (or some said, “Gan Cheong”) parents with lots of encouragement, moral support and useful info to pull us through the long and difficult waiting process.
Good things happen to good people. Wishing u and family good health and your son all the best in his promising future to come.
