    • RE: Need suggestions for food items for < 30 pax

      1. Buttered rice with cinnamon, raisin and cashew nut.

      2. Grilled chic wings or thighs
      3. Grilled assorted hard veg seasoned with rosemary, garlic and butter. Salt and pepper.
      4. Simple veg and chipolata stew.
      5. Cake (get someone to bring it)

Item 2 and 3 can grill at same time in oven.
Item 4 can cook the day before.
Viola, no need to rush on actual day.

There's meat inside the Fuzhou balls. Some pork, some chicken.

Customs is not going to break open the balls to examine. It looks like fishballs, tell them its fishballs. šŸ˜‰

I drink my 'ah chek' coffee every morn.

Palembang powder, bought from my regular shop along Bukit Timah towards KK.

Hi Janet_lee88, I also can't function without coffee (at least 2 cuppas). My regular fix (other than from the regular coffeeshop) is Suzuki brand ground Sumatra Mandheling from NTUC. I am looking for ground coffee which is strong, full-bodied but not sour-ish. Wonder if the 'ah chek' coffee fit in?

You guys uses the french press or the filter drip coffee machine? I prefer the capsule system which is much faster, easier to clean up and gives a stronger shot.

Taman Sentosa (JB) wet market has a fishball stall selling fresh fuzhou fishball. My aunt bought it from there before. Taste quite good.

I am trying this compatible capsule. Taste is pretty good and crema is great. Works fine in my Citiz. For 70 cts a pop, its very good value I must say.

Can anyone list out the steps or receipe for making pencai. I had never eat before or see before except for their pictures.

      Thanks in advance.

There was a recipe by Chef Eric Teo in yesterday's Sunday Times.

I saw that. Looks like it will take a good few hours to put together! Somemore his is a \"short cut\" version.

Why don't you cook the pencai? It is easy

The pencai - is it supposed to be soup stock based or sauce based? Need to braise prior to consumption? Or just put in all the various cooked stuff and arrange nicely thats all?

I haven't read the whole thread but I'm keen to get this machine. Where can I get a better price other than Taka?

Is it better to get Clitz and Aerocino or Lattisma?
If you are not a stickler to brand, there are Nes system compatible machines and capsules available now. The cost barrier of entry is lower.

Anyone knows how to clean the Nespresso machine? Specifically the area near the spout? Is there a special chemical that we can use to clean it?

      Thanks!
Just do a blank flush. Run a cycle of lungo w/o capsule. The hot water will flush the chamber, dislodge residual from the filter plate (you can't see it) and kills bacteria. Some people observed slow flow - their filter plate could be blocked.
