During the NTU open house talk on 2 Mar, Prof Pang did respond to query if prior internships at hospital help in securing an offer. Answer is "yes" if it’s public hospital, but its very limited. "No" if internship at private institutions as sometimes such arrangement was seen with candidate’s parents are also doctor.

Almost forgot about this forum...was busy focusing on reddit to track the results from NTU and NUS. DD got an offer from NTU but not NUS. Was also considering the SMU Duke pathway with a possible scholarship and a UK Med school offer but looks like she'll choose NTU.

Heard that NTU will have a longer term and shorter holidays, earlier engagement with patients and no association with Imperial starting from this batch. And of course, the annual tuition fees for NTU are higher by about 5k/yr...

Happy that DD has chosen med for what I believe are the right reasons. Secured multiple internships and part time jobs in GP clinics, hospitals and other healthcare facilities over the last few years to trial whether this is the career for her. Of course it helped her CV but more importantly, helped her understand and think whether she could this for life.
I attended the ntu lkc open house on 2 Mar this year. I asked the question abt intake size. And NTU team happily replied increase fr previously 160 to this year slightly more than 180. Attached the ntu link on event summary on 2 Mar. The intake size increase was stated.

DD was offered both yll & lkc, but chose yll as we could feel the support is much greater, financial aid framework is solid.

      Thanks for the link!
So assuming 50 WL got converted, that means 50 offers were rejected. Wah! Was wondering where these 50 gone to instead.
During the zoom session with wait list last year, the NUS team did share what are the alternatives in event of wait list become rejected. Two other possible alternatives.
NUS team is helpful, don't see similar support fr NTU to the wait list.

Scholarship only for those offered during 1st round in early May.

Roughly how many will be on NUS wait list? Just wondering does it mean this few will displaced those who got offer but decided not to accept as they have even better offer? Overseas? Reasons? Can afford and no bond?
The number on wait list is not secret, published on NUS medicine portal. The number is 70.
      See under \"selection process\"
      https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/prospective-students/nus-medicine-admissions-assessment/
The same question was prompt to A/Prof Marion Aw during last year zoom session by NUS with wait list candidates on 8 May 2023.
How many of the 70 will be successful?
The wait list has \"weight\", many in the wait list will not be disappointed. My guess is between 50 to 60.

For 2023/24 NUS intake, total 280 for NUS Yong Loo Lin (Male: 134, Female:146), dentistry total 80 (Male: 31, Female: 49)

What if you got an offer from NTU and NUS medicine. Which one will you prefer? Why?
I will state the facts, NUS is preferred.
I am amazed by support fr the NUS fraternity. Their financial aid support is solid.

The \"wait list\" students felt the big difference last year.
NUS actively engaged wait-list students with zoom session & on-campus meet session, cos NUS wait-list has \"weight\".
While NTU did not have any follow-up for wait-list, other than email during late-june to wait-list student that an offer is made, & student given only 2 days to decide acceptance.

      Hi all,

Congratulations for all whose DD/DS received offers! DD received NTU offer but isn't sure whether she should accept it first in case NUS void her offer, any advice?
No worry. It will not happen.
NUS addressed this concern during last year May zoom session, to those on NUS wait list but have already received NTU offer.
Go ahead to accept NTU offer while waiting NUS wait list outcome during end-May.

But unlike 1st round offer during end-Apr / early May where have a few weeks to think & decide accept offer. Those on wait list once notified of offer have only two to three days to decide. If email to students dont have response, parent will be called.

DC got an offer at 3.20pm

      WL came in about 4.05pm

      Rejected email there after

Thank you mother777 and congrats to your dd too!!
As parent went thro the process last year.
Those on wait list please don't give up.
There were cases last year, when students on wait list for both, got offers from both NUS and NTU during end-May.
Pls note NTU offer to wait list can be as late as last week of Jun.

NUS school of Yong Loo Lin even better, the Chairman of Admission Committee A/Prof Marion Aw conducted 1-hour zoom session to those who are on NUS wait list last year during mid-May.
And NUS conducted \"meet and greet\" session on campus to those on waitlist.
I would not go further into the statistics of success here.
