Bebebub, that parent should have planned earlier what Sch to aim for since they gave DS and DD. By securing a seat means an earlier phase which someone else lost that chance (like Daliesque). It is so mean to withdraw at last min when you already have secured a seat and you know what you are getting into when applying for an all-boys school when you actually have a DS and DD.

So honestly like ChiefKiasu said, can’t blame them, I am not as otherwise all 31 swee swee can go in if this show-spoiler didn’t come and messed it up when they already secured a seat. Not like as though they didn’t know their 2nd is a DD; and plus rules might change by the time their DD time come.

Daliesque sorry that you had been balloted out. I’m sure it is not a nice feeling getting into a ballot which is why I pity those who need to ballot. And fair enough as you will definitely take another chance at 2C and now going through the ballot all over again which could have been avoided. Im sure most parents are not spoilt to cry foul but if you knew that the no.32 actually gave up the sacred seat to go fight with you in a ballot. Now that is really frustrating!

Poptart, how do you know it is a walk through? Whatever these late 4 people did last minute really messed it up for so many but the worst is the no. 32 who already secured a seat. And whichever Sch they eventually withdrew from, which logically could be a ballot situation as well, they have just landed in another balloting situation but now dragging those 28 into balloting as well who thought they had a high chance of getting in and ending their nightmare. But the real hope killer is No. 32 selfish act.

Agree with ksmummy2 as that’s my thought all along… Why wait till last minute and please don’t happily withdraw when you already have secured a seat. Spare a thought for those in 2C who are going through so much stress waiting for their turn.
Agree with ChiefKiasu suggestions too to deter such last minute fickle minded parents and give those no chance to even go for a ballot to have the time to register in other schools instead.

Yes agree with Jace as well that instead of swee swee all 31 getting in, now have to ballot.

14 of the 17 ready to be disappointed but at least they had a chance to ballot. Now it is 17 of them totally disappointed that they are not even given a chance.

Rains, do you think those 28+17 will not blame those 4 for causing this predicament? Easy for us to say let it go when we are not in their shoes.

Agree it is a good idea on cooling measure so anyone who don’t even stand a balloting chance can have time to react and not have waited in vain for 2C and having to wait and go through all the stress all over in 2CS.

Lol those 28 should wear Red on 6 Aug (as they must be boiling with rage with the ballot news at last stroke of the clock) then unite and chant for good luck snagging all spots and let the remaining 4 have a taste of the cold sweat fighting it out.

Anyone from that 28 here reading and onz wearing red that day? Red=good luck too and if they get in, can go celebrate national day as well.

No fault of theirs if they choose to register at 4.25pm? They had a choice and of all choice and advantages they had, they had to make the worst possible negative impacting choice that is going to directly cause misery to many? The so called 4 that "benefitted" from their withdrawal might not even feel any impact cos they already expecting a ballot and that one withdrawal is just 0.01% assuming instead of 100 balloting, now it is 99; assuming each of them withdrew from different school. But their 1 last minute act caused a greater nightmare for many.

Just like retrenchment; 1 top-paying exec Kenna axed may not feel upset considering the redundancy package awaiting plus he/she already accumulated much wealth to be ok without a job for the next few months or even years but 1 low or middle income Kenna axed may be their rice bowl and already struggling with the daily survival. So same axe but who will your heart go out to? And will you still sympathize with the person holding the axe just because that person has the trump card and holds an advantage edge over the others? Just because you "hold the axe", you should have exercised due thoughts and not just axe for your own selfishness consideration.

Understandably parents want the best odds and everyone is binded to the rules set out by MOE but come on, you can’t be so wishy-washy and want the best of both worlds and flip at the critical last hour. No wonder with such character, it creates all these tensions and parents having to "camp" outside schools on final day to monitor and govt to say "All schools are good schools". It is easy for those who are not affected by these last minute people to say good luck, game rule is fair and parents should know high ballot chance for popular schools etc. But if you are one of those who have to go through this torturous wait instead of celebrating this weekend and having the worst thought of being the unlucky one as well those 17 whom these 4 have just blew their long-awaited 2C away just because they had to wait till the last hour? Couldn’t they have roughly already knew their chance earlier and spared a thought for other parents of how their one selfish act can negatively impact the lives of so many parents and kids?

Hope 2015 registrants be more thoughtful and decisive early.
