      Q1)

      1 cat ----- 2 mice -----3 days
      1 cat ----- 10 mice ------ 15 days
      1 cat ------ 20 mice ------30 days
      5 cats -------100 mice ------30 days

      Q2)
      For A to move 20m, B will move 12m
      For A to move 1000m, B will move 600m
Therefore total distance between them is 1600m

      Q3)
      Area of 1 triangle = ½84 =16
      Area o 2 triangles = 32 sq cm =area of rectangle

It’s amazing that a 9 years old girl can remember the questions under stressful exam environment.Enjoy your learning journey.

There are three conditions which will give the same average number. First case, A is greater than B. Second case, B is greater than A. In the last case, A is equal to B. It’s not illogical to assume that A has the same value as B. After going through with my son, we chose to use the last scenario to show as the model for our solution.

You may choose to represent your solution in a different way

Sigh... I'm still trying to learn to think like you :)[/quote]Hi Chiefkiasu

The underlying principle is to see Maths through the eyes of our children. Try our best to solve problems using Problem solving strategies within the syllabus. Sit down with our kids when they encounter problems and you’ll be surprised by how fertile their young minds are when coming up with simple solutions to difficult problems. Enjoy the journey.

How to solve these 3 questions pretty please?

      (2) At a bk fair, Tom spent $6 less than of his money on a storybook and $2 more than of his remaining money on reference books. After buying thebooks, he still had $10 left.
      (a) How much money was left after he bought his story books and before hte bought the reference bk?
      (b) How much money did Tom have at first?
      Hi youngmum
Just wonder whether or not there is missing info here.

Tom spent $6 less than of his money on a storybook
eg $6 less some fraction of his money

... Hi, Chiefkiasu, cunning is not a good word...

That depends on how it is used. In this case, it is out of respect for the cleverness of whoever thought of that answer. 🙂 No malice intended.

      Hi Chiefkiasu

...At first glance, the answer is $17.But it's a trick to lead you down a slippery slope. At P6 level, it's difficult to find questions requiring only simple substitution...

Now that's some trick 😛 ! Then again, I still maintain that the question is ambiguous.

Is my answer to the 2nd question correct?

      Hi Chiefkiasu

I shall try to explain as follows

If it's 3 hours, then the rental is (3*3+5)
For 1 hour, the cost is (3*3+5)/3
For 4 hours, the cost is 4(3*3+5)/3

If it's 5 hours , then the rental is (3*5+5)
For 1 hour, the cost is (3*5+5)/5
For 4 hours, the cost is 4(3*5+5)/5

Working on Q2, not so fast, oldman already.
